The pics you have posted are of a Mark-I.
The front grille and the rear two piece lights came as a combo in the Mk-I only.
In the Mark-II the front grille was different although the rear two piece lights remained the same. Unless the owner has had it changed (the front grille) for an older model. Looks like he has put Mark-II emblems on a Mark-I.

If we knew the regn. number, we could have hazarded a guess as to when the car was registered, and that might indicate if its a Mark 1 or 2. Like V-16 says, could be a Mark 1 with Mark 2 emblems. Or could be a Mark 2 with Mark 1 grille. Karlos, any inputs?

Another difference between the two models was the bumper design. Mark-II did not have those two tall projections in the bumper; they were much smaller in Mark-II. What do you call them by the way?

Bumper-guards or overriders.

BTW, about the amby grand, could we have a frontal view of the dash? That speedometer looks curiously retro-fit- to me atleast!

Again so many Ambassadors from their home constituency

Popular and Elected Politicians have a mass following in their constituencies (mass base). The Ambassador also has its mass following in Kolkata, its home, but its on the wane as far as private cars are concerned. As taxis, nothing beats an Ambassador on Kolkata's streets- the latest 1500DSL with Euro II compliance is doing its duty as taxis. But the new Kolkata HC verdict to get all commercial vehicles of 15 years plus age may take its toll on pre-1993 Amby taxis.
Thefirst three pictures are different and one shows cool cab taxis in Mumbai-pleasantly surprised to see an Amby here. The second one shows Amby spares on sale in Kolkata and the third one is a film scene (100 marks for guessing) which I've also posted in another thread.

Any Ambassador, any model... Expect lot of pics. Hopefully only interesting pics find their way here.

1957 Landmaster in original condition, but needs some work.

Some misc Landmaster sightings.

This lovely original car has had only 2 previous long term owners, the first of which was a top ranking bureaucrat from Jaipur. The car was offered to me for a pittance a few years ago, but alas I didnt even have a pittance to spare. One shoddy overcoat later the car is advertised for 85k with work still to be done.

Landmaster And Ambassador Picture Gallery-17.jpg

This dieselised car was for sale some time back, it might still be there.

Landmaster And Ambassador Picture Gallery-04.jpg

This neat car recently underwent a garish colour change, though executed superbly. Note the dent in the running board still visible after repaint!
