You get these plastic chrome finished beading like things in rolls over here and has got adhesive on one side which can be used around the windshield rubber to give it that chromed look .

Have done that already buddy,

Some more chrome will go on once the rubbing & polishing is done.

Yesterday, opened up the master cylinder and the clutch slave cylinder once again for the 5th time since the clutch gave way again.

Yesterday we burnt the midnight oil to search for apporpriate kits for the brakes and finally got couple of them which suits exactly. Few from the ford Escort and some from the Maruti Van The clutch and the Brakes are now "JUST PERFECT". But still the grinding noise in the engine remains.

And finally today morning, Mr Beliappa's son-in-law (Harsha- A genuine automobile enthusiast) comes to drive the car back home to Indiranagar, from where the car will be trucked to Chennai for completing the RTO procedures. Boy i am happy to see the car going there by truck, but minus me :(

Though since yesterday evening and also today morning, the car is behiving

Anyways, few pending bits on the car will be completed once it comes back hopefully.

1) Rubbing Polishing
2) Final bit on electrical fittings
3) Upholstery and roof
4) Carpeting
5) Engine firewall
6) Few chrome fittings and some stickering

Untill then , its over and out from this thread.

I saw the car today, she was flying. Those chrome bits on the windscreen rubber look very nice. But can't even manage to take a picture of the beauty. Pedal to metal .

Look at it from a different point of view. Look at it from the point of view of a restorer and see the positives only.

Sadly its an abrupt end to a wonderful restoration that could have been.

The car is running just perfectly and has also completed its journey to Chennai and Back. In the last 2 weeks i had been wondering what happened to the car, since there was no news from the car owner or their family.

I send a simple mail to remind them that their car is running on my Safari battery and i need to replace it with theirs. I get this reply, which is highly unprofessional and absurd

After all the hard work, time, energy. i get to hear this.

All the listed parts are there in the workshop, how can i pick it up without payments being cleared There are many items which are not even been paid.

I get this mail to deal with their "SERVANT" which is ridiculous.

Moreover, the total amount pending towards the workshop is Rs 25600/- approx.

And the gentleman does not have a bit of courtesy to reply over here on the forum nor on Mail. Till the car was handed over to him, lots of mails criss-crossed, but 2 weeks later, things tumble.

Highly unprofessional, i am not able to understand on how to recover the dues.

Oh thats very unprofessional attitude shown by the owner. Pavan sir don't get me wrong but the way the mail is drafted shows the Baniya behaviour of the owner. Who the hell wants the scrap which came out of the car (eg. the old door pads et al).
And to top it up the dues are even not being cleared by the owner. Sir i would strongly recommend you to take up this matter seriously with the owner directly. Hope this experience will not have a negative effect on the garage guys.

I have retained all the parts that has come out of that car very very safely.

I have shot a mail to them, and hoping they reply.

I also have enough evidence via his mails wherein he's re-assured all payments will be cleared. i only hope so.

My mail.

Hi,

Thank you for the mail.

I would like to keep you posted, all the mentioned stuff are intact and some of them in the car.

While i return all the above mentioned spares, kindly see to it that, the pending payments are cleared which is a matter of urgency.

1) New carburretor = Rs.1250/-
2) Ford Escort brake kit = Rs.800/-
3) Petrol = Rs 1500/-
4) Brake oil = Rs 150/-
5) Rear brake pipe = Rs 200/-
6) Brake overhaul = Rs. 2500/-
7) Engine removal and refitting = Rs 1500/-
8) Engine tuning = Rs 750/-
9) Gearbox mounting and service = Rs 750/-
10) Gearbox oil replaced = Rs 350/-
11) Diffrential oil replaced = Rs 300/-
12) Painter pending amount = Rs 2500/-
13) Fitter pending amount = Rs 2000/-
14) New nuts and bolts = Rs 300/-
15) New fuel pump = Rs 700/-
16) New water pump = Rs 1300/-
17) Wheel alignment = Rs 700/-
18) Electrician pending amount = Rs 1500/-
19) Pending amount towards tyres= Rs 1200/-

Rupess Twenty Five thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty only

Every person involved in this restoration have put their hard work, so kinldy clear the amount ASAP.

This is a huge amount of money pending, which so far has been un-accounted for and not being paid or either been discounted while paying. There are many more expenses like the battery recharging, mechanic overtime work charges, painters payment for involving more labour towards finishing the car quickly within time. My runabout to various shops in search of parts required, my fuel expenses, Telephonic bills,The Loss Of Pay (45 days overall) at Work for supervising the car when at work, etc., ... etc.. which basically is un-accountable.

Since i have agreed to do this restoration FREE OF COST, i shall not claim any money, But HALF RESTORATION of the car is something that i am not able to digest.

I restored the car under a good intention, only to get this timeless classic running on road. But now saddened by your attitude and behaviour. If my expertise is limited only upto this level, so be it. I wish the car trouble free running.

Kindly pay-up the pending amount and i shall arrange for the above mentioned parts to be picked up from the workshop and hand over them to you.

Waiting to hear from you guys.

regards....KADAM

Reading these mails, I am feeling terribly sad! I wonder how you are feeling. :-(

Hope the payments are cleared soon. Will the SERVANT be assigned to clear these payments?!

Pavan sir my best wishes are with you. Hope the money is recovered from them ASAP. Also do note the condition of your Safari's battery which they would return. People of this level of thinking cannot be trusted anymore.
