As days are progressing, i am able to clearly see the difference in using quality materials for painting, This method of painting is close to what i had done on my Beetle and my Bus, Pricey but extremely effective and lasting.

We saw the MG today, 24 hrs after the surfacer was sprayed, surprisingly its provided us a very clean and even surface for paint, also lot of dinges/ spots are reduced, the tube putty was also sparingly used.

We will dull the surface by tomorrow evening, paint the inners of dickey door/bonnet and door part.

Very tricky painting method is involved since its Varitone (Two Colors), something like the pic below.

We are nearing the D-day.

Today, we sprayed the base/covering coat and checked the bodyline, we could almost get close to perfection, but few places, we were not able to get the body line.

Tomorrow the top/dickey and bonnet will get its final coats of Ermine(Dark White) and 3 coats of Clear.

Some updates on the work done today.

Ah.. it was not yesterday that I passed by but on 17th as I was heading towards Avalahalli for the Dirt track race held at the dry lake bed there. I saw one of your photos that showed the high-tension electric mast which made me recognize the place. Will meet up soon!

Wokhay......!

Today we took the first step towards finishing the paint work.

Since this is a varitone, we decided to paint the lighter shade for the TOP and the DARK for the rest Bottom half.

And due to this set-up, the lighter shade has to be painted first, and that too complete FINISHED PAINT for the TOP.

Waited for the hot sun to glow outside, got the metal to warm up, and finally the Ermine(Dark White) was painted today.

Some updates

What else left to say, simply superb paint job and its technique. Hats off to you Mr Kadam for the quality of paint work and the restoration.
Please do suggest some good technique and material to get a PP S1 painted. I plan to get my car painted in future in Royal Maroon shade. Do suggest the paint and material to be used along with the procedure as and when you get time.

Happy to help

Once you start your restoration , just put it up here, i'll let you know what procedure needs to be followed stage by stage.

The white will be left to dry for the next 48 hrs, and on Monday, we start masking and spraying the bottom Burgandy.

As they say, its not over till its over. I have a looooong way to go after the paint job is completed.

Thank you, You'll see the real beauty once the Burgandy is done.

A paint job will look good on an old car, if the bodywork is done well and also with the use of Quality materials.

Many try to compromise on a small price difference and end result will be "Good from far and Far from Good"

A similar paint job with Duco will cost 30% lower but the lifetime of the paint finish will be 70% lesser.

Yes A and C pillars. It will look nice, if done well.

The concept is "SHOW CAR" so need to adhere to the idea.

Got a meter of chrome sticker today, after 3 hours of search.

Its a DIY job and i will be doing that tomorrow morning.

Will update pics once done.

Finally the final coats of paint is sprayed and the paint job on the outer surface is COMPLETE.

The paint job has come out really well and as expected.

Couple of days more, the interiors of the car will be sprayed to match the outside, also planning to detail the engine room and the engine.

EVERYBODY..... your views and comments please.
