My words exactly! Whats this I'm reading?! How long had this Herald been there?? Was it this bluish green mk1 by any chance?? This car had belonged to a friend who used to live in B'lore.

I think I've been sent pics. of this herald before, although not too clear. It was covered in grey primer, and there was also another one a bluish grey, lying by the same station. I guess you mean to say the bonnet badge on it had 'ENSIGN' on it, which was true, as that was the car it was originally meant for. Standard motors madras covered it with the plate you see on top with the 'Standard' badge on it. 'looked far better that way IMHO.

There are two Heralds right? I went and saw the cars in the morning. One is intact and the other is split in pieces. The propeller shaft, front two wheels and differential etc were buried in different places in the compound.

Yes!! Exactly! I had mentioned this even in the thread where you'd posted the pics. But I was told by my friend that the other car isnt as complete, its a bare one sans the fittings and covered in grey primer. 'looks like it was an abandoned project. But 'wonder how and why it was impounded by the cops!

Yes, its indeed an original car- or atleast was!

Not surprised you got no proper response! Atleast they didnt give you a rude response in abusive language!

Came across a Herald today

Shyam , this is for you.

Single owner, Will remain with the owner, not for sale.

The owner has removed fittings and doing certain work on the car at his home.

Chennai Depression has left me depressed for few days.

Its been pouring here over the last few days.

Today we removed both the doors, since the hinges were playing nuisance while shutting, already at the lathe, will have to wait for it to come before we spray the final coats.

Inspite of paying a good sum of money to the old tinker, there are still 3 spots where we need to do a bit of patch up job

Sorry for the bad pics.
