Manson,

Even a fall of 3 feet can render a helmet useless, as the gel inside could have solidified. This solidification is what protects your head in the time of a crash. Please pull out the padding and check that the gel is intact .

GPR helmet. I have a clear and a dark visor.
A denim jacket.
Leather boots.
BHP Racing gloves.

One thing that is always there on every ride.
If its not in the right state I dont ride.
A calm mind.

Let me stop boasting right now.

@ straight 6 : I am impressed with the riding gear you have got. I am planning to get one of these via newenough.com. But am a bit hesitant about choosing the size. I am looking forward to a couple of tips from your side on selecting the better jacket, gloves and most importantly, Helmet.

1) First of all, i would like to know about how good the Joe Rocket helmets manufactured by HJC are ? I know it sounds weird, but in the website its mentioned that Joe Rocket helmets in this site is manufactured by HJC.

2) How do i choose the correct size for all three mentioned above ?

PS:- I just remember Straight 6's name. I am looking forward to everyones' reply for the same.

Till then, ride safe.
Thanks and good to have you here. First of all, you need to take into account how you're built. Do you have a big belly or are you very thin? How tall are you?

What is the shape of your head? Round, oval etc. Take a measuring tape and measure the size of your head with the tape going from just an inch above you eyebrows. Make sure to take it over the furthest point at the back if you have a protrusion. Measure the chest/back with the tape going over the nipples and the biggest part of your back and take a deep breath while doing this. Now, if you have a big belly, measure that also. For the gloves, measure your palm across the widest part. I'll tell you which size to order when you measure all this.

Manmeet and me are using HJC helmets and they very good for the price. The Joe Rockets are also good since they are made by HJC and they don't look too shabby either. Whats most important is to buy a helmet that fits tight around your head. Don't buy it for the sake of buying one and buy a helmet that is loose. A loose helmet can cause injury or death in a crash by snapping your neck. Besides, if you plan to buy an SBK in the future, get into the habit of wearing one now because it will not happen on the RX but on the SBK's a loose helmet moves up suddenly because of the wind and can distract you at high speeds. Its also important to buy one that matches you head shape or it usually starts hurting after 1.5 hours.

Using my DuckBack rain pants in rainy season. Jacket and Boots are already water proof. Always consider a proper water proof riding boots. In rains, normal shoes/boots get drenched and it is the most irritating thing, while having a waterproof boots covered with a rain proof pants saves you a lot.

Did you buy all that gear from Mukesh?

By the way, why didn't you come to Carter road yesterday? I was around your bike. We went for a short ride to Shivaji park because it started raining.

I agree with that. My boots are waterproof too and they are the most waterproof things I have ever owned. I bought a rain coat from here and the pant is waterproof but the damn wind cheater itself is hopeless.

The solidification is instantaneous. It solidifies the second the impact happens. Something like an airbag. One time use only :(

Some really nice gear there everyone, esp straight6.
Joe Rocket stuff is good and not very expensive too- not cheap too.

A request to all- only post real pics- please.
Pics off the net don't look good when it's a show-off of personal treasures.
(as far as faking it is concerned, one is fooling no one else but self and putting life and limb at risk- so i have no issues with that )

My leather jacket is packed up and stored under the bed or else it will get the fungus on it in the rains. So I put up pictures from the net.

What the hell? Talcum power and cold cream too? I was thinking of getting a special lotion that Joe Rocket has for leather jackets.
