Linea Crash - Similar Story

I would like to post a PUG member's experience of a similar FIAT car crash story! Reminds me of the show - Ripley's Believe it or not!

Quote:
After taking a look at the pictures, i thought i should share another story (lucky not to have experienced it). I met a person sometime back who owns a FIAT 1.6 Petra. After getting into our regular mould of admiring FIATs and 1.6s, he told me that its his second Petra. The fate of the first ones absolutely scary. Read on!

Some three years back he was heading to gulbargha from Hyderabad with two more with him. He was driving at a very 'decent' speed of 140 and all of a sudden steep downward slope of the road had shot the speed to 160. The car hit something and was airborne. Landed with a huge thud after couple of somersaults. The driver (this person i met) and another person in the front had their seatbelts and came out unscathed. the one at the rear did not and eventually landed on the road through the rear windshield with some bruises.

This amazing incident was covered by THE HINDU in one of its weekly automobile supplementary and i dint even know this person while i was reading and if im not wrong, thats exactly when i had bought my first car - a GTX. Very recently i met this man with a 1.6 Petra again!! He took me to the scrap yard and had shown his totalled Petra and believe me, it was scarier than this LINEA incident. No part was in place.

He picked up another 1.6 PETRA immediately after the accident and swears by FIAT. Hes not a great 1.6 enthusiast but admires the build of the car more than its performance and made up his mind not to buy any car other than a FIAT!

IMHO, doing 140 km/hr on an unfamailar road where you don't know if the road ahead is flat or sloping is sure asking for trouble.

Man that Linea below the stones and truck is a damn scary sight!
Yes the build is good but i believe it was their destiny to come out alive from this one.

Well the car hit something which could have happened anywhere. But 140 is pretty fast no matter where you are.

Early morning yes, but it was on the Andrews Ganj (South Ext.) flyover. Happened right in front of me. Guy was driving fast and rash, got scared and lost control when another car swerved in front of him.

I spotted a crashed Linea beside the (now closed, old location ) Little Italy in Jubilee hills.
The front is smashed in and was covered with a cloth.
The windscreen did not appear to have suffered any damage from inside.
Assuming that the passenger were wearing seatbelts.

On the way to office I spotted a blue Alto being driven with a smashed windshield. The driver's side windshield was ok but the passenger's side windshield was badly cracked. Looked like the drivers misjudged a cyclist who landed over the bonnet and windshield. Sorry couldn't take snaps as the guy was in a hurry and so was I.
