@aviorp,mjothi - Yes, indeed a terrible accident. The bus driver claimed that the brakes failed and he tried to avoid ramming into other vehicles by driving into the shop. Police has taken him into custody.

Good to see that they have strictly started monitoring the CCTV's lately. Hope they continue punishing the culprits.

What the!! that bus wasn't even slowing down. stuck accelerator? or brake failure? Something wasn't right there. Of course poor maintenance could have led to that failure.

On the way to my office today spotted a new 5 series got T-boned by a Wagon-R at Golf Links Road. F10's left front and rear door completely damaged. Police arrived, but both cars were blocking the road complete . Took 15 minutes to clear the spot.

Looking at the pics in the link, the steering wheel looks cracked, may be the driver was not wearing seat belts and ended up banging his head/chest into it?

Manish, confirmed. It did not crash into the Sidewalls but bumped into something, which was going ahead of him. See the pic of Sidewall.

Saw an accident yesterday (18-May) in Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road near madipakkam junction.
The Water tanker lorry rammed a biker (Pulsar) from behind and ran over him. It was that gory that the lorry ran below the hip part and the person trying to crawl out with pain and agony.
Ambulance reached and due to traffic i couldnt notice much and obviously not in a mood to take a pic.
Not sure who's fault but the driver left the scene leaving the lorry engine running.

I wish a speedy recovery for the poor person.

Hey Nikhil , thanks for confirming. So, my doubts were unfounded. So if it rear ended something, it has to be a truck/dumper trucks IMO.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I saw quite a few damaged vehicles on NH 66 (formerly NH 17) between Mangalore and Udupi yesterday. One truck was trying to take a right turn and some other big vehicle had crashed into it, damaging its left side.
A few kilometres away, a Sugama Tourist bus had gone off the road, into the area where road widening is going on.
And the local newspaper Udayavani reports of road deaths daily. Here no one wears seatbelts or helmets. Seems like they hope for a miracle when they crash. I know of a boy in Udupi who pestered his parents for months for a bike and finally got it. He crashed it into a tree the same day, and died due to head injuries.

Spotted this enroute to Office at Narsingi, near Taramati Baradari. Don't really know how it toppled and crashed into the divider. There were no skid marks/crash marks on the road. The only damage done to the road was on the tyre marks on the Dividers. It's becoming real hard to decipher the accidents on ORR in Hyderabad these days.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

he's just taken the corner too fast, hit the smaller divider, flipped and crashed on the higher divider on hi sway to settle on the median...
I remember a lot of such accidents when my dad used to take us on roadtrips, and there were innumerable trucks filled with sugarcane toppled along the way.

Looks like the driver dozed off or maybe was side swiped by a bigger truck to crash into the barrier.

Saw a similar accident on DND flyway (no pics). Saw an overturned truck around 2:30am near the toll plaza on DND. It probably happened 5-10 mins before I passed as the dust hadn't settled completely though a traffic marshal and an emergency vehicle (of DND flyway) were on the spot. Not sure about injuries or how it happened.

Spotted another accident on ORR today, Radio Cab seems to have crashed into something near the Yet to be Opened Toll Gate. The driver of the cab was sitting in the cab and talking to someone on the phone, hence it looks like the accident happened a couple of hours before I spotted it.
