Didn't Ajay Narayan chart the GPS map to Leh when he travelled along with Rudra?

14. Sleeping bags, these should be mandatory and on top of the list. Also some good gloves, woolen socks and a woolen cap.
15. Batteries drain really quick so carry Duracell Ultra for the torches.
16. I carry an inverter. It's really small. Puts out 110 volts and draws power from the cigarette lighter socket. Handy to charge your cameras etc. It's really small - about the size of your palm.
17. Choclates - lots of em.
18. Jump Start cables - Yes most defineately.
19. A good toolkit.
20. Rather than cns of water, carry bottles. SOmetimes the water gets really cold and you can put one bottle into the engine bay and it gets nice and warm.
21. Velcro - you never might know when you will need it. Really handy.
22. Carry some belts and hoses. Stuff you can DIY, just in case.

If I can think of anything i will add.

Maybe the mods can add the above to steers list so that it can be a single reference point.

Here is a checklist from the Raid website. Also check out the link below.

I bought an extremely bright LED based torch in Bangalore (Wildcraft) for my Sikkim trip, it was 400 bucks a piece. Not only it lasted the 6 days of trek away from electricity, it is still running fine after 18 months, I haven't changed battery even now. I highly recommend those.

I have a torch with Hand crank mechanism.
Rechargable battery inside which you charge by cranking the torch.
30 seconds of hard crank gives around 5 minutes of usage.
Will be carrying that .

As for LED torches, I have a reasonably bright torch which I got from Nainital last year for 10rs. It has one white LED. There was a 3 LED one which was 20rs, but found it too expensive so bought this one.

Tanveer, the torch I mentioned can light up an object 200ft away. It is so bright, you can't look at it directly. Running on two AA duracell batteries since Oct 2005.

Hehe Samu kidding. But I meant 40 of my torches can light up more than one of yours .
To be on a more serious note.
I have Car -> AA/AAA charger and few rechargables.

Once we have enough inputs I will create the list from all the items mentioned.

We don't need to be too scared as the Raid wants us to be, since we wont do the run like they do.

Meanwhile lets work out dates
I am okay with either the Aug 15 week(I think best since it has one hol which is hol for all
Another option is the Last week of August.

A lot depends on the rains and conditions of roads too. Cant comment too much on how the monsoon will be.
I guess only around First week of July we will get a fair idea of what to expect.

Last week of Aug is out of question for me - have to be at home on the 27th (Onam) and I leave on the 31st. Tight schedule. Scheduled to arrive 17 August, but I guess I'll prepone that to 12 or 13 Aug.

Okay then we will stick to the 15th august week
15 Aug is wednesday. Saturday will be 11th August.
Can you fly to Delhi and have your DICOR transported by truck before that?
That way most people will have to take the Aug 15 week off + 6 days for BLR - Delhi drive.
If there are 4 safari's being transported from south, shipping them by one big truck makes more sense.
Sideways can tell more details about booking a huge truck.

Hello Vik.
WE are planning to start on 11th August (Saturday) morning from Delhi. You can start your trip a little later and join us.
Since you will be carrying your babies with you in your vehicle nobody is going to have any objection. However we do not know wether the hotels we will stay in allow your labs!
