Also, is this an option?

Yup this is the route to take. I went in this route in August in my Palio, no reasons why a Safari will have any difficulty.

Thanks!! Any inputs on the options laid out in post #117? Did you consider those as well?

That path doesn't exist. There was an entry in that direction but it was something that only 4x4s could tackle.

If you'd see posts on the previous page, they were already answered when I asked! Please check posts 101 and 102 (blue path on 102 is the correct one)

Sounds good - thanks again! Got confused since Amp confirmed on a different option in post #115.

BTW, I drive a 4x4 Safari :D

I think route on #115 and the blue route on 102 are same. Its just that the blue start was wrongly marked. Both refer to the same route. #101 refers to the barricade. That would be on your right. You turn there and go by what you mentioned on post 115. Both you and Sunnyboi referring to the same place for exit.

The moment you see that exit and the barricade (hope its still there!) you would know the route. The point to note is, you exit on route, join the SH and then go below the bypass along SH towards Haliyal/Dandeli

Amp - I guess that is not the case. Please refer to pic below - route as per #115 is marked in blue and that as per #102 is marked in red. Now the question is - which of these two is the one with barricade, taken by SunnyBoi? I guess it is the red one (in the below pic). I'd let him confirm.

Then may be I am mistaken. I remember there is a mangrove where you see the barricade. Hence I was always of opinion its the other one.

The path marked in blue has the barricade. This is the one that will take you across the road, and then below the NH-4 / AH-47 by-pass to go towards Dandeli.

Yes, the path marked in blue has the barricade and is the right option. This turn from the bypass is exactly 24 kms from the Hubli bypass toll booth.

Regarding the road condition, I must say, it is silky smooth all the way till Dandeli. We visited Dandeli 3 days back and we were really happy driving on these beautiful roads. It has been newly laid most probably because of elections clap:

Not newly laid all the way through - after Haliyal and after you turn right from the Yellapur road, the road is broken at many places, though manageable. Dharwad-Haliyal stretch is bliss

Great news indeed. Since times in memorial I have traveled on the Dandeli-Dharwad road, it never got any maintenance. Let alone tar, even fixing basic things was a dream. Fresh tarmac is really great news.

Now if only they enable a proper Dandeli exit on the Hubli-Dharwad bypass.

So, if I got this right, 24km from Hubli bypass toll booth, I take left onto the mud road to join up with the Haliyal road ?

BTW, what would be the driving time from BLR to Dandeli through this route ? I am driving to JLR Kali camp tomorrow morning.

Budget around 7-8 hours for Dandeli with usual cruising speeds and breaks.

You said it! takes easily 20+ minutes to get into Dharwad and touch the NH4 Bypass toll booth and this is really painful!
