Guys - if in Gurgaon, isn't the -

Gurgaon - Rewari - Narnaul - Singhania - Chirawa - Jhunjhunu - Mandawa - Fatehpur - Ratangarh - Bikaner the shortest option?

Google map says it is some 405 kms.

How are the roads? the other two routes are longer by more than 100 kms! Is the Rewari - Narnaul route so bad?

Planning to do a
GGN - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Bikaner - Mandawa - GGN circuit in the new year.

Reading up on road conditions, which route to take and shortest driving times.

Please let me know.

I'm also planning to go to Jaisalmer via Bikaner. I would appreciate which is the better route out of the above two in terms of good roads. BTW I will be driving a sedan (Octavia).

I have already decided against the route via Delhi-Jhunjhunu-Mandwa-Fatehpur due to extremely bad roads unless somebody has travelled recently.

First one was a little better - that too by not too big margin. Just a small stretch of 2 kms was horrible in second route.

But otherwise, either routes are doable and good enough.

Just wondering if I can reach Delhi T1 Airport by 3 PM if I left Bikaner @ 6 AM on Aug 15th?
Mine would be a old Wagon R..
If that is a touch and go, where would be a good place to stay over night the previous night starting from Bikaner that evening?

Bumping up this thread for the latest update on the route from Gurgaon to Bikaner.

Planning to leave from Gurgaon on 10th March at 7:00 AM. Any latest information on the best route to take.

Take KMP - best is via Manesar/ Panchgaon unless you are in old Gurgaon and thereafter to Rohtak/ Hissar and beyond check this

In spite of having noted the warning "... ( don’t miss the right turn under a flyover..." would have missed it. Had to back track only about 50m on the flyover. Thanks for the special mention @Turbanator.


The route as indicated above is still in excellent condition and the SH 6 is a relaxed drive with minimal traffic. Even though the distance is more by 40 kms roughly, the overall drive is pleasant. The time difference is not much due to faster average speed attainable. Followed the Najafgarh route out of Delhi, as it was early in the morning. The drive time till Bikaner for 476 kms was 7 hr 30 min.


On the return leg from Bikaner, there was heavy fog in the morning till around 11 AM. Even though speed was restricted in the beginning, we still managed to reach back Delhi in good time. Took the Tikri border route to avoid the evening rush around Najafgarh. Cut into Dwaraka through Bakkarwala - Najafgarh Nala road. The return journey drive time was 7 hrs 40 min.

Route and halt update after another trip to Bikaner during 29 Sep - 01 Oct 23.

Route taken : This time took the direct route unlike the previous trip indicated in the last post. Gurgaon - Rewari and further on to Bikaner on NH 11. There was a brief halt at level cross (due to ongoing highway work) at Pali. Then there was diversion within Fatehpur through paved internal roads near Mominpura Mohalla to touch NH 52A for a brief while before getting back on to NH 11 all the way to Bikaner. Stuck to the same route in return leg also two days later. Overall the roads are in good condition.

Distance and Time taken : 9hrs 30 min to cover 440 kms with two halts (halt time of 1 hr 30 min), meaning a run time of around 8 hours. Return also was similar.

Halts enroute : To Bikaner, Old Rao at Bachod (good option) & thereafter Dwarika while entering Bikaner. In the return leg, Galaxy Inn near Fatehpur (nothing great) and Mannat Gurugram (another great halt option).
