Also, why do you say smaller head is better for beginners? Wouldnt a smaller head be difficult to use for a beginner as it reduces the contact area and hence more missed shots?
I'm just quoting what my friend said when I asked him about your query! He was right beside me when I was typing!

Makes me think, I think a bigger head is better in my opinion! What you are saying is pretty accurate tho! So chuck the Z-Ziggler bro! Just get the Finapi 232, not the Limited! Get it strung with Yonex BG65 at a tension of 25LBS. 25LBS should be perfect for that racquet cause I'm also at 25LBS and increasing the tension to something like 28LBS or 30LBS have chances of breaking the racquet! 25LBS is like a sweet spot! It can be changed on a later date if you want!

haha cool, 25 is good enough? I was thinking 27 would be a good fit. This racket is rated for 38LBS, it cant withstand 28 also?

See, there is no problem with going that high.. But I would say, avoid ego-stringing! Just don't go high tension just because you can. Keep it simple!

It will withstand. It's rated 38LBS max. But you never know! The racquet won't tell when it's breaking.. Play it safe!

Don't go by the max rated LBS.. If you are starting out 22/23 should be good enough.. lesser the tension more area you will get for your mishits.

I am not starting out.. Been playing for an year now. Feel I am on the verge of being an intermediate player.

As nova.19_exe suggested, 25 should be good enough for me.

Yes, so 25LBS should be perfect. But if in case, you feel like you want more or you wanna go down a lil, you can always do that.

25LBS is to familiarize you with your racquet!

Happy shuttling!!

Re: The right way to play Badminton

Any place in Delhi/Gurgaon to buy authentic Yonex racquets?

I want my daughter to start playing and I have been advised to buy :

1. Yonex Astrox Lite 27i
2. Yonex Voltric Lite 40i

I have also been told that there are a lot of fakes available and are quite common. The Jonex website has no retailers mentioned.

Don't you have Yonex run stores in Delhi? We have them here in Bangalore and they sell authentic merchandise.

You could try reaching out to the following distributor:

Sunrise Sport (India) Pvt Ltd.
6th Floor, Salcon Aurum, Plot No-4, District Center, Jasola, New Delhi - 110025

Contact: 011-43588240 to 64

From personal experience, a store carrying a 'Yonex Pro' or 'Yonex Sunrise Authorised' signboard usually stocks authentic products. There are also other major multi-branded distributors but it depends on how you feel about buying from them.

Here is a page from the Yonex website with tips on how to identify fake products.

I could find only one in Ghaziabad. That is a two hour drive for me, so not feasible.

Thanks. That's the distributor listed on the Yonex website. I do plan to call, lets see.
Which multi brand stores are reliable?

Let me know if you can't source it. Will be happy to procure and send it across.

That's one of the Yonex stores close to me. They might agree to ship to you directly

Yonex Astrox Lite 27i

Yonex Voltric Lite 40i

I wouldn't advise the Voltric cause it's head heavy. Ideally, go for a balanced one, which in this case is the Astrox, cause beginners wouldn't be very satisfied with head heavy racquets.

That said, I would recommend the Yonex Nanoray Lite 18i. An amazing racquet, light enough for a beginner, balanced and enough tension to last you long enough!

Re: The right way to play Badminton

Thank you for your input, friends. On a friend's reference, I visited a store - SportsJam in Ghitorni (MG Road) in Delhi. One step inside the store and you could make out that they only sell genuine stuff.

https://sportsjam.in/

I picked up Astrox & Nanoray as suggested above, along with a box of shuttlecocks. I highly recommend the shop.

You seem to have taken the words right out of my mouth! My first racket was a Nanoray 7000i and served me well for 2 years before giving up. Have tried several companies ever since then and recently settled into Li Ning after a sour phase that tested and ultimately broken my trust with Yonex.

Overall, the Nanoray lineup is one of the best beginner racket imo (which is now being replaced with the Nanospeed as informed by a Yonex store (they still seem to have stock of Nanoray though))

Cheers

Re: The right way to play Badminton

Hey there fellow shuttlers,

I have been playing for the better part of my life although it's definitely reduced in the past few years. Kindly advise on my next pair of non marking shoes, I play on a synthetic court about 3 times a week.
Have been using the Yonex Blaze for the last few years and while the first time I bought them I was extremely satisfied, so much so that I bought another pair to replace them, however, I was left quite disappointed with the new pair when the sole started breaking off after just 3 months, approached the official Yonex store and explained the issue to which I was told it was because of "improper usage on rough surfaces" while the shoes have never been worn outside the badminton court
Not sure if it was a one off defect or Yonex quality declining as it coincided with 2 of my Yonex rackets, namely Nanoray Lite 18i and a Voltric Z Force both breaking after very light impacts with the court within just a year of buying them (they have been babied the whole time with not a single paint chip)

Another issue I face with quite a few shoes is the narrowing toe. owing to my wide feet. (Budget is upto 15k)

Cheers
