What a wonderful thread, this. Some lovely pictures out there too.

Amit: That makes the two of us. Dont see myself going to sea, anytime soon, except for maybe a cruise liner, which BTW is also a longshot!.

Capt. Nandu: Good to see you back. About time we met again! With your kinda experiance at sea, there would be tonnes of pics to upload. Literally!

Re: Calling all TBHP Sailors - Post your maritime pics here !

I have worked on cruise liners for little more than 5 years, hence I would like to call my self a sailor too

Here are some pics of my cruise ship

My ship docked at the port of Flam (Norway)

A ferry ferrying humans, car's busses etc etc in the Norwegian Fjords. A very common sight

My ship (far end) and some other cruise ships anchored off the coast of Geiranger town. We had to take small tenders to come ashore

My ship entering one of the narrowest of the fjords "the Troll Fjord" Here you can see the forward mooring deck on the bow of the ship

Passengers on the open deck

At some Catalina beach in the Caribbean. My ship is in the back ground

Rest you can read and have a look at pics here

There are also some videos, that you may like to see

This is when our ship hit a reef and broke a propeller. So we had to go for dry dock in Alabama. Infact the ship here also crashed in the peer!!

This is the oil slick that our ship caused after breaking the propeller

This is how the staff celebrate Xmas on the ship

It would be great viewing for folks like me who might never get a chance to explore the sea - unless i save enough and go for some cruise on some exotic liner.

Would be nice to hear about the experiences as well of all the sailors.

Thanks guys, appreciate the wonderful community that we have here. Shall surely try and post diverse pics in this thread. I feel just one diverse thread is better than starting a seperate thread for each and every topic and believe me, I could think of at least fifty such marine topics.

Deky, my friend, You can definitely call yourself a Sailor. Apart from the people who work out at sea, any person who enjoys being on a boat and does so regularly is, in my opinion a Sailor.

Went through your thread, what a harrowing experience it must have been. I too have seen a couple of serious fires on board but thankfully none that bad to make us abandon ship.

Shall try and put up more pics as and when time permits.

Cheers.

Re: Calling all TBHP Sailors - Post your maritime pics here !

Great pics everyone! I am in the same boat as Swanand and Amit; which is unfortunately not going anywhere near water anytime soon. I look forward to seeing more of a life which we hear of, but rarely see.

Oh cloud pics would be perfect. I always wanted to (still want to I guess!) have a career which had something to do with clouds. Unfortunately I am not working on the real ones at all!

@ Swanand/Amit/Selfdrive
In case you guys are in Mumbai & have day to spare then shoot me a PM & I promise to take you inside the Mumbai port. If you guys are lucky enough then onboard a ship too. The latter only in condition that I'm surveying or my office is attending some business on that ship, but definately up, close & personal to ships.

Nah buddy, Its just Nokia 5233 cam. I myself cannot understand the reason of this fish eye shot.
May be our camera gurus like Rudra can explain.
