Well if wishes were horses. Even I have thought of the same thing many a times. Imagine a team boasting players like Saeed Anwar, SRT, Sehwag, Waqar and Wasim, Saqlain and Harbhajan as spinners. We would literally rule world cricket.

Come on, why are people so scared of Aussies?? They are just 11 men and fallible, as NZ showed.

Lets believe in our team. We have been playing amazing cricket and as a unit. All the hallmarks of a champion team. If we really cant beat the Aussies then we really dont deserve to be the champions! I'd have felt like half-champions only were we to become champions without facing Aussies.

I agree with you but Mohit is kinda nippy as well and has the surprise element which would be an added advantage for him and India.

I think afridi is a big liability to the Pakistan team. He comes at 7, gets out in 5-10 mins. I don't know why they keep him. Sometime back I read that he's in team as a bowler. Its stupid to have him as a bowler. He can instead volunteer to play up the order, maybe at 3. That way, he can play during power play at least.

ICC has charged Wahab and Watson for breaching the code of conduct.

In the meantime, NZ has begun batting. 145 for 2, 27 overs.

Guptill scores a double ton - 203* off 152 balls.

Guptill becomes the sixth player to score a double century. If he crosses 219, he'll be the second highest scorer in ODIs beating Sehwag.

EDIT: The pressure in this match is squarely on one man - Gayle.

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

The grounds are relatively small. So WI still might have a chance although I doubt that scores of 400 are beyond any teams ability to chase. But hope to see Gayle play a good knock and make this into a 2 way contest.

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

Looking at the first couple of overs, it looks like an almost impossible task for West Indies to chase the mammoth target! So it is going to be a very interesting Semi finals with South Africa vs New Zealand!

Please WI. Just hang in there and let Gayle bat those 50 overs. Please don't lose all your wickets at the other end.

No target is big if there is Gayle at the crease. Can you believe that he has scored just 2 runs by running, rest all in boundaries in his 48*! And boy, look at the strike rate. It's a near impossible one for WI to win this one, as it is difficult to sustain this type of hitting, but if Gayle keeps going for a while, then who knows!

Gayle is gone. Windies' chances of winning are next to nil now.

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

We will surely have high quality Semi-finals and Final between top quality teams.
Last time it happened was in 1987 WC.

This time there have been no upsets so we are surely going to see a deserving World Champs as both the group toppers and 2nd team in the group has made to the SFs. Thanks to SA for not choking in the QF.

I have already started feeling sad about the outcome of NZ-SA match as it will be another case of 'so near yet so far' for one of them. One more point worth noting that barring 1992, NZs have always been beaten in SFs quite comprehensively as if they loose all their steam.

PS : The difference between WI and other teams is that they just don't show common sense. At the end of 28 overs score is 221 and the RRR is 7.8, any other team would have chased it barring WI.

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

Now with top 4 teams almost decided, it is really difficult to predict the winner of any of the remaining games, leave alone the World Cup! Good to see that all deserving teams will find the place in SF games. Some great quality games coming up ahead.

If not India, I wish that SA wins this one. They have been one of the most consistent sides in world cricket and yet to taste how it feels to win the WC. For some reason or the other, they have been quite unfortunate as of yet.

It's sad to see the state of WI cricket. No team spirit at all.
So, all the deserving teams are in Semis.

My prediction-
IndvAus - India wins. Not just cos I am Indian but on current form and Dhoni as the shrewd captain I place my bet on us.

NzVSf - too close to call but Nz goes through. Simple cos they are in tremendous form and the tag of Chokers don't haunt them. Also McCullum is due. Will be a definite heart break for one of them in the elusive dream of a world cup.

Also, I strongly believe whoever wins the IndvAus semis will win the finals too. Simply, cos both of them have good experience of winning finals.
