Re: The Scale Model Thread

The latest edition to my JLR family collection - the pre facelift Range Rover in 1/24 scale. This one's made by Rastar and while it looks ok. i don't rate the quality as great. There isn't enough ground clearance, the wheels don't sit true.. a bit of a letdown, for what is a licenced manufacture.

I've decided to put a pause on purchases now as I am running out of space.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Does anyone know where I can get a scale model of the new BMW 5 series (G60) ? I could only find the older G30 model online.

My Ambassadors

Here is the photos of my scale model Ambassadors and at the end the 1:1 scale which I have.

Centy Ambassadors

Amabassador OHV 1:18 (Mark1 - Scalearts Vahanam)

Great detailing including the underbody & suspension. Only thing which is not perfect is the rear windshield, which is sort of different from the original shape of the glass.

It was just Ambassador (1957-62), when HM launched mark 2 in 1962 people started calling the previous version Mark1. But there was no Mark 1 emblem. The 1957-62 ambassadors are mostly called as Ambassador OHV with regards to the over head valve petrol engine it had. I think the ohv badging which is seen on the fenders of mark 1 ambassadors nowadays are not original ones.

Great deal I'd say. The cars seem to be very well kept.
Legendary stuff these.

You've really gotten me interested to explore eBay now.

Oh believe me Ebay IS the place. I browse everyday and add models to my watchlist. Then sellers give me offers I counter offer and if both are happy then mission accomplished.

There are some seriously awesome models out there.

I must say, these look quite desirable, and this is from someone who has no special affection for the Amby.

That they certainly are, considering the special place the Ambassador occupies in Indian Automotive History.

Models of The Mk.3 & Mk.4 variants are rumored to be in the works. it would me a mouthwatering prospect to see Ambassador models being released for New Delhi & Calcutta Taxis. Personally, I can't wait for the Mk.4 as we had a white one in the family in the mid-1980s.

The models look fab. I will surely add one to my collection and I think I will wait for the Mk 4. Hope these guys dont just stop at Ambys and make other Indian cars in 1:18 scale as well.

These models are being made by IXO under the sub-brand "Vahanam" in collaboration with ScaleArts.in, which probably means more Indian car models will be released under this sub-brand. Hopefully they make the Premier Padmini/Fiat 1100D next. The only Fiat 1100D model available in 1:18 scale is quite expensive as it is made from resin.

1:43 1992 Suzuki Swift 1.3GL(Maruti Suzuki 1000/Esteem)
The Maruti Esteem - the car in which I learned to drive! Ours was a 1996 White Esteem VX with a very special number plate - Regn no. GJ-11E-8000.

The 'Esteem' will always be fondly remembered for what it offered as a sedan in the 90s - a refreshing change and a technological upgrade from the Ambassadors and Padminis that dominated our roads in the 90s.
