Re: The Scale Model Thread

Picked this Ford GT 40 Mark II in 1:64 scale.

This is the one that Ken Miles drove in Ford vs Ferrari.

& when it's Ford vs Suzuki, Suzuki is like- You can go fast, but I can go anywhere!

The car and its model are so exceptional that they need no introduction, standing out in their own class!

1:18 Hindustan Ambassador Mk.1( IXO VAHANAM)
Probably the most path breaking and greatest release so far as far as Indian Scale models are concerned.

It is now well known that ScaleArts.in collaborated with IXO to make this dream turn into a reality. So kudos to Vishal and his team at ScaleArts.in.

At 1:18, the models is not only huge( earlier there were diecast metal Ambassador models available in the 1:43 scale), but superbly detailed as well. The attention to detail, fit and finish are spot on.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Starting off my contribution with the 1:18 collection, with one model/ brand for each of the museums my son and I have visited:
The Scale Model Thread-img_6488.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6489.jpg

Porsche: The 911 Carrera (993), by Bburago, Italy. Very well detailed, with great engine details, even luggage in the trunk and detailed interiors.

The Scale Model Thread-img_6475.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6462.jpg
The Scale Model Thread-img_6471.jpg
The Scale Model Thread-img_6473.jpg

The Latest 911 GT3, (992) by Maisto, China. Lovely detailing, paint quality is great as well, steering works really well, interiors are okay, not much of detailing.

The Scale Model Thread-img_6518.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6527.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6530.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6544.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6533.jpg

Mercedes: CLA Coupe by Solido, Bangladesh. This was the first project I worked on after we moved to Germany, designing the Headlights and Taillights. Feels heavy, solid in the hand, though attention to detail is not that great. Only the front doors can be opened, but interior is fairly detailed. Steering doesn't have the same smoothness as a Bburago or Welly.
The Scale Model Thread-img_6537.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6546.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6538.jpg

BMW: E46 M3 by Solido, Bangladesh. In my opinion one the best designed BMWs of all time, the E46, though an E31 is equally great looking. Very average build quality, was expecting much more detail at this price point. Only the doors open, not much detail on the interiors and the steering action is very iffy.
The Scale Model Thread-img_6540.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6542.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6550.jpg

Audi: R8, by Maisto, Thailand. Great build quality and attention to detail. Detailed engine bay, spoiler operation and decently detailed interiors.
The Scale Model Thread-img_6491.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6492.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6496.jpg

Ferrari: F430 by Hot Wheels, China. Great paint quality, attention to detail in the engine bay. Build quality is great, steering motion works pretty well.
The Scale Model Thread-img_6508.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6515.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6545.jpgThe Scale Model Thread-img_6549.jpg

McLaren: F1 GTR, by Guitoy, Spain. We haven't visited the McLaren museum, but this scale model was simply exquisite, I just couldn't pass up this opportunity to get one. Really great attention to detail, driver's cockpit, movement of the doors, engine bay detail.

Great Stuff Sharath. I've been drooling at the 1:8 McLaren F1 by Amalgam Collection ( Link ) but the price tag of 18,000 EUR puts me back in place.

the one you have picked up seems good. Will look it up.

I managed to get a a Maisto 1:18 Mclaren F1 on Ebay a couple of years ago. The box wasn't in great shape but the car was perfect. It was one car missing from my super car lineup.

Infact I have to say Ebay is gold in terms of scale models. You just need to patient to find good deals.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Are 3d models of Indian cars available so that we can 3d print them? Would be really nice to have a collection of cars that we held over the period of time, in the same color and registration numbers...

These look so good. It misses out on that famous sunshade though. My grand parents had a black Mark 1 with the sunshade and it had such a majestic look. My collection is completely 1:64 models, so I am confused whether to go for this or not.

On another note, did the original Mark 1 ever came with a 'Mark 1' emblem ? I don't remember seeing that emblem. It was just Ambassador.

I am not sure they will ever get made in that scale. For nostalgia's sake, I suppose it is better to get them.

Besides if you want to remove the Mk.1 emblem on the fenders, as these are pad printed, it may be possible with some rubbing compound or careful application of nailpolish remover, but try it at your own risk.

I don't know about that, but it is nice little detail to have considering the Mk.3 & Mk.4 are in the works and to have a bit of uniformity in detailing when all four get displayed together.

I have bought the 1:18 Beige Mk.2 as well but haven't done the photoshoot yet.

Got mine today and I completely agree with you. These are gorgeous in flesh than in pictures. And competently priced too.
With more models in pipeline, the wait starts for the next one.

Yes, I agree. Photos don't do justice to these beautiful models. What I find odd is that in some photos taken at some angles, the boot on these models look longer than they actually are. When you view it in flesh at the same angle and distance, it looks alright.

Unlikely they were ever made in diecast metal. There was a 3D printed Orange Seltos scale model posted by a member earlier in the thread. You could try with K10scale models for the same if you are ok with 3d printed models.
