So, you like the new Defender more? I probably have too many Defenders as well, albeit the old shape.

Despite the appeal of the classic Defender, I don't think I can live with one. This is where the new one comes in for me.

That said, my collection clearly has a JLR family bias, and among them the LR range including Range Rovers.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Cross posting from my Thar ownership thread.

I came across k10scalemodel on Instagram a few months ago. They make scale models of Indian cars via 3D printing. They also make custom models according to your spec. Recently they launched a scale model of the Thar. I got in touch with them and asked them if they can replicate my Thar in scale model form. They replied in the affirmative. I sent them detailed pics of my Thar and I'm pretty stoked with the results. Really appreciate the eye for detail. They even recreated the auxiliary lights and my custom 4x4 logo. They even gave me an acrylic case to display it. Super happy. Here are pics:

A bit long read, please bear Here is my experience with K10.

It is nice to hear that you got your model in one piece. I have not so good experience, not once but twice.

I have been one of their early customer ordering a Maruti M800, Tata Safari Storme and Mahindra Armada in my first stint. They send items through India Post. The box came damaged and upon opening, the worst fears came true. The Safari and Armada were fine, but the front suspension of the M800 had collapsed. The seller asked me to return the damaged car for repair.

Fast forward, during the period of repair, WagonR was launched and I ordered that. A few days later, i saw a custom Baleno sedan and being an owner, I bit the bait. The days took months and after a quarter, the models arrived last week. The same India Post was the carrier, but the box was intact. Upon opening, it was again that I found the wheels of the Baleno detached and in a corner. My heart sank. This time, the seller has asked me to fix it myself with glue sparing himself and myself some efforts.

Here are a few pictures of the models i have got. The Mahindra Armada is the only notable model with nicer details and finish while others are a bit tough. Also 2k+ price point, this is a bit expensive for what it offers. For time being, i might stay away from this seller, but I would like to give a third chance in future.

Thanks for sharing this. The pictures you have shared here show quite big difference in fit and finish when compared to mine. Very basic. The Armada still looks the better of the lot.

I got mine hand delivered since his place was near my office. Also got it in an acrylic case with the car screwed to the base. So I don't have any experience of getting it through post.

It would surely be fair to give a third chance. His work might have had improvement than the earlier times.

I was just about to request this supplier to create scale models of my cars but am hesitating now, seeing the quality of what you have posted. The prices quoted to me are also in the region of 3000-3500 each for 1:32 scale. But seeing Dippy’s beautiful white Thar scale model, I am very very tempted.

I finally have the “big three” from the 60s and 70s. Ambassador, Fiat and Standard. Will try and get better scale models for the Amby and Fiat as well:
