Re: The Scale Model Thread

Although not really a scale model, but this HotWheels Porche casting is superbly done. The matte black color, along with red and gold accents look amazing.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

An iconic Philippine Jeepney model I bought when I went to Manila long back. You can see them all over Manila and is a popular mode of transport for locals like our shared autos.

The wooden car models are bought from Lepakshi handicraft showroom in Andhra Pradesh.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

The Centy Toys Ambassador converted to Mark 3 & Mark 4 variants. These conversions were done by the very talented & knowledgeable Mr. Shahbaaz Ansari Ashrafi. HE deserves a lot of praise for the improvisation & efforts he put into converting these boring toys into something very close to the real thing,

This is what a stock Centy Ambassador looks like

Just shows what is possible if Centy had put in a little more attention and effort on their models/toys.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

This '01 Accura Integra' by HotWheels is a wonderful 1:64 casting. One can see great details, especially on the tail lamps. Here are few pics.

I acquired 5 of these recently released Fiat Scale Model Toys by Centy. These are nice enough. Lightweight yes. But decent for the price.
For me these are pure nostalgia.
There are a number of YouTube videos on this already.

As an aside, Nostalgia is a Greek word which means ‘the pain from an old wound’, a ‘twinge of memory’. (Watch the Mad Men episode on the Kodak Carousel.) (YouTube link attached.)

You haven't bought the Bombay Taxi variant? I thought among all the five, the Taxi looks the best, followed by the sky Blue one.

Yes, I agree for the price it is being sold at, you can't get anything better. It is certainly a step up from the Ambys they made. All I am saying is with a little more attention to detail, this could have been nearly perfect. For e.g. the tyres are too fat for a Fiat 1100D/Padmini, the vents below the grill could have had holes(instead of being closed). The reversing light on the boot should have been white instead of Red, a little silver/grey paint around the tail lamp to simulate the chrome surround that those Fiats had.

They can actually use this mould to make a very accurate and an actual scale model of the Fiat 1100D by adding a little more details. But licensing issues might came in the way. But I can imagine what customizers like Mr Shahbaaz can do with this and turn it into an even more closer replica of the Fiat.

Can anyone suggest how to safely remove the "Classic" decal from the boot without damaging the black paint underneath?

Madras also had Fiat Taxis in the 1970’s. But I liked the cool coloured private cars better.
Yes they could have replicated the Nylon cross ply tyres and made holes in the grille too.
And if they so choose they can mould or die cast some proper scale models if they wish to. All they have to do is apply for the license from Fiat/ Stellantis. But Im guessing 99% they will not do that.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

It would be a huge benefit to the community if we could also provide a link to purchase one.

Diecast models are more accurate and sturdy, but I found them to be more pricey.

Another company called "Centy" creates 1:24 scale automobiles with authentic Indian styling. It is available on Amazon.
https://centytoys.com/

All five of the doors on the die-cast MGW seen in the first image can be opened.

I own a fleet of "Centy" toys, including the Tempo Traveler Ambulance, Fortuner, Kolkata cab, Innova, TATA 709, fire truck, and others. The other three or four toys you see are from this brand.

These are now visible on Centy's home page, I just saw.
