I saw this on Amazon and grabbed it. It was not expensive.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

A friend got me this gorgeous little Datsun Fairlady by Tomica TomyTec Vintage all the way from Japan.
It just arrived like 5 minutes ago.
Comes with a ‘hood down’ open top look and a ‘hood up’ covered look. Its a real cute little car. Wish they would make more of these affordable little roadsters in this new modern world.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

I usually do not collect this scale but on a recent visit to Singapore, saw these at the airport and could not stop myself from getting them. Barring the Integra, I have the others in 1:18 as well so it would make for a good display!

I feel calling them scale models would be wrong. They are plastic toys and pretty good looking ones at that.

Although very similar to a Premier Padmini and it costs a fraction of the cost of an equivalent diecast metal scale model, it would still be called a toy, not a scale model. It has toy like openable doors and has pull back action like that of a toy and a quite a few inaccuracies. But credit to Centy Toys for coming out with such a good looking toy that evokes nostalgia in many of us.

Got all five of them, just for nostalgia's sake. The Bombay Taxi looks exceptionally nice. The 9211 number is possibly a reference to the movie Taxi No. 9211.

1:43 Aston Martin DBS V12, Casino Royale

A little diorama of the Aston Martin DBS V12 that was first seen in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale, the first film in which Bond was played by Daniel Craig.

In the movie, the car only features a spare gun and a defibrillator. The car was later destroyed during Bond's pursuit of Le Chiffre.

1:43 Tuk Tuk(Rickshaw), Octopussy
In the James Bond movie Octopussy, After out foxing the exiled Afghan Kamil Khan at backgammon in Octopussy, Bond(Roger Moore) has to make a swift getaway by jumping aboard a Tuk Tuk or auto-rickshaw. Driven by his Indian MI6 contact Vijay(played by Vijay Amritraj), India's most famous tennis player. Henchman Gobinda( played by Kabir Bedi), armed with his trumpet-barrelled blunderbuss, pursued Bond through the streets of Udaipur,Rajasthan in this Tuk Tuk, pulling wheelies, rattling down steps and jumping a camel. This machine was made and built on the frame of a 1983 Honda ATC three wheeler.

The diorama is based on this scene, where Vijay Amritraj while helping Bond get away, was seen fighting off goons with his tennis racquet!

Except the Taxi, all other cars are available on Amazon or Flipkart. I bought the Taxi from a Meerut based guy who is selling them on FB. I can send you his FB profile link, but I can't PM you for some reason.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

New addition to my collection in 1/18 scale - The Suzuki Jimny. This one came with a rooftop carrier, bullbar or standard bumper and set of 4 extra wheels.

Rear seats can be folded down, as with the real car and front seat can be tilted forward. Dont miss the checkered design pattern on the rear seats.
