I hope some finds this info useful!
Glad to know it worked!
Approx how much is the water content ? I mean the size of aquarium so that one can calculate how much capsules to use ..

Re: My Fishkeeping hobby

^^^ Tank is 150 liters. So one capsule every 75 liters or so.

At first time, I placed two capsules that cured the fishes greatly. After partial water change few days later, I noticed some slight white powdery stuff on some fins, so put one capsule only.

The capsule costs some 1.5Rs each, so I would suggest to put slowly, and not worry about throwing half of it away for smaller tank.

Wish the medicines for Fish diseases are easily known and available locally like for other pets namely cats and dogs.

Glad you are helped by the local fishkeeper and the fishes are in a healthy state.

Good fish medications are easily available online. Seachem has a wide range of medicines catering to different type of diseases and infections.

Re: My Fishkeeping hobby

has anyone tried aquaponics? I am thinking of doing a small indoor setup with plastic containers both for fish and greens. Advantage seems less maintenance required as in water changes as this will be taken care by the plants and you get greens for cooking. what do you guys think?

True that, but ordering online and waiting for its delivery is the pain. I was ranting about these available off the shelf so the medications can start real quick and save the species.

Suggestion would be to buy and keep a few of the common medications. No harm in being prepared for an infection if and when it happens.

Most of the common LFS do not keep the high quality medications in stock and give cheap colourful medicines which are of no help.

Thanks for this advice, it was the best one! Everywhere the shopkeepers tried to push a variety of fish down my throat saying they are all compatible with gold fish... However, since I had already read about GFs I was aware of this ploy.

I have upgraded to a larger tank now but, right now I am sticking with plastic plants and the two GFs; though sometime ago, I had an urge to create a planted aquarium. With a larger tank, I have noticed that the maintenance is lower, I can do with only 40% water change weekly as opposed to the 70-80% in the earlier smaller tank.

The next step now is to get some good quality aquarium driftwood. Any online store in India which sells authentic driftwood? Not the red ones that are available in all the fish stores. Plus they charge a lot for a small piece of driftwood, which seems to be locally procured.
