Aviation 72 IAF Folland Gnat F1 1974 1/72





The Gnat was a small and nimble post war aircraft developed in late 1940s. Despite its diminutive size it proved itself in 1965 and 1971 wars. The term sabre slayer is often associated with it and countless folk Lore has been written about this aircraft and it's pilots.

The detailing of the cockpit is phenomenal! Is this a ready made model, or kit build and did you modify the cockpit to look this good?

I build them; every single model is assembled from kits and painted by myself.

This particular kit is by the Eduard company, the cockpit is made up of about 40 individual parts that require assembly and painting. Certain parts like the instrument panel are supplied as Photoetch parts that are already printed with the dials and such.

The entire model has about 200+ individual parts that require assembly. The markings like the roundels and serial numbers are supplied as water slide decals, the entire camouflage is painted using airbrush.

Thanks, that is pretty good detailing. My modelling days are long gone. In the old days, we usually had to detail the cockpit ourselves. Not many kits came with much detail. Luckily even then you could buy all sorts of bits and pieces to add more detail to your model or to modify it to a particular variant and so.

Keep up the good work. Very impressive model building!

Nice addition to your Air India fleet, I prefer the looks of the NEO over the CEO, appears more balanced and larger. A picture of your 1:200 Air India fleet would be nice.

Thats a mind blowing model Attention to detail is as good as the real thing. I used to build models as a child, some of them have been posted on this thread long back so I can appreciate the skill and patience it takes to build these masterpieces. I guess you must be a professional, my models are no where as good as yours, especially the paint work.

That Indian Air Force Foxbat is just jaw dropping.

Thats an interesting model, never knew a manufacturer made them in Indian colours, some more pics would be nice.

Basuroy, your skill and collection are both off the charts. Superlative. 200 parts!!! How many days or weeks of work does one aircraft take? Thank you for sharing your exotic models. Your Indian collection is way beyond what any of us have.

Excellent model Which brand is it? I think that F-16 is also new, I don't think you ever put pictures of it.

A photo of all 4th generation 1/72 fighters would be nice (along with the Falcon Slayer Fishbed )

The Mig-21 for example, If I dedicate every single day to it with 4 hours per day, it will take me 10 working days. The painting phase takes more time than assembly.

Simpler models can be finished in 3 to 5 days while behemoths or 48th and 32nd scale models can take upwards of a month.

It is a machine bought by both Zimbabwe and Finland
if you haven't got it yet, let me make it easy....
It is one of the only 4 ever aircraft of foreign origin that got license built in the USA albeit with a lot of customization

Coming this weekend a 1:48 model of this world beater flying with the IAF, in IAF colours

CN 235 is the only one that springs to mind when it comes to Zimbabwe. The Swiss Pilatus is used by many airforces around the world including the USA.
