Bumping an old thread. For me there is no one like Bruce Springsteen to listen to when driving on a highway or early morning when the streets are empty. Unfortunately, when my wife is with me , I can't listen to much of Bruce. It's changing slowly as my 2 and a half year old son for some strange reason loves Bruce and she can't say no to him

I have a playlist in my phone as 'Fav'. I put all my favorite songs there be it any language, any genre, old or new. Sit in car, attach aux cable and just start the Fav playlist to play on random selection basis. With time, I just keep updating the playlist.

I prefer songs with high bass (eqaualiser is set in such a way to play even normal songs with some bass) and slightly higher volume (enough for bass to be felt). What song - It keeps changing as new songs keep coming. I listen to almost all types of songs, language being no barrier. If i like the tune, I listen to it. Be it Tamil, bengali, punjabi, Rajasthani, Haryanvi, hindi (mostly) or english.

JioSaavn subscription ended few days ago. Did not renew because it does not play downloaded songs in offline mode. So, now using Amazon music, which supports offline playing.

Never commented on this thread despite being one of earliest threads on this forum. Reason : The music I listen to always changes with the latest releases. However for quite some time, these three songs have strongly held on to the top three of my playlist since I started driving a decade ago.

3. Dil Dhadakne Do ( Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara )

Anywhere in the World, I hit a highway, these three are immediately played by me !

My all time favourite is this golden oldie, country song by Jerry Reed. All of 2.52 minutes with vocals and blue grass instrumentals, it's enthusing to listen in to again and again while driving.

I keep adding to my playlist. But whenever I find myself doing a real long haul, especially at night it will be J.J. Cale. I have all his albums and I will put it on random shuffle. Cale music is unique, a mix of Cajun, blues, played in a seemingly effortless way. But even Eric Clapton will tell you he can’t match J.J.s style and God knows he tried plenty.

CAR on cruise control, One hand on the wheel, Cale on the stereo, it doesn’t get any better.

Nowadays for some unknown reason, I am listening to a lot of Telugu chartbusters (although I dont know much of the language). Especially the folksy, massy songs. They are a good accompaniment if you have to stir yourself up on a long boring drive. They also sound excellent on my cars systems.
But eventually, once I have heard too much, I go back to Bryan Adams, Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen (Tunnel of Love is an old time fav and recent addition to my playlist), U2 (esp Joshua Tree). Heck, I even have Madonna's Music album for a funky difference.

Driving down late at night in the city, listening to Mark Knopflers "Silvertown" is such a pleasure

And then I have my usual backups of Hindustani Classical and Malian/Senegal/Gambia music in the form of Habib Koite, Toumani Diabate, Ali Farka Toure, Fatoumata Diawara and even Teddy Afro (Ethiopia) . Those who have an ear for world music and haven't heard of these greats, do search and listen. Its an ennobling experience. Their musical arrangements especially on the more modern recordings are outstanding.
