Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

To drive my S60 endlessly and enjoy it as much as possible, i have been driving it daily since it will almost be 6 years old in April and the 10 year Diesel vehicle ban is a deadline to sell the car in its 8th year. The car drives like a dream and pulls like a horse is on fire. I can not still have my head around the fact why will i have to lose out on such a great machine for such dumb blanket rules. To put things into frame, My S60 has two recalls which can be done until year 2032, yes you read it right coz the manufacturer believes that such cars have a durability that long.

Having said, plan was to get the timing and aux set of belts and tensioners replaced in Jan, but a free day in Dec last week sealed the deal so now only looking for a paint job for the bumpers and a dent on one door to be done asap.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

A Gypsy has been on my bucket list for too long. Hoping it fructifies sooner than later and explore new hinterlands with it and try my hand a bit at off roading as an amateur.

My 9 year old Laura TDI at 190K on the odo needs a third life. Planning to spruce it up well, so that I can keep it for another 6 years.

LED headlight efficacy on my Seltos is hapless to say the least, especially when it rains. Need to do a light upgrade without voiding the warranty. A full chrome delete job is on the cards too.

A full repaint of our beater car Omni which recently has gone for a fitness renewal.

A road trip to NE has been on the back burner. Hope I get to tick that one too.

Wishing all bhpians and driving enthusiasts a joyful new year behind the wheels and hope we all get to drive and travel safely more this year with His grace.

Cheers,
bibendum.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

Need to ensure I continue to improve the efficiency on my diesel VW Vento. My little effort towards a greener planet and thicker wallet. Improve driving habits to increase longevity on tires and brakes. Work harder to keep the Vento looking in immaculate condition.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

Hi Everyone,
Here are my resolutions:
1) Drive with a cool head and not to engage in unnecessary road rage.
2) Get myself a safer vehicle.
3) Follow all traffic rules even when there's no one around. You never know when disaster might strike.
4) Plan my road trip for a jungle safari.
5) Cycle my way to shorter distances.
6) My wife wants to brush her riding skills. May be a decent scooter could be on the cards.
7) Renew the vehicle insurance and PUC on time.
8) Its been really long I pampered my car with some car detailing.
9) Look for a reliable FNG in the neighborhood.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

  1. Try not to brood over petty issues faced by the motor vehicles that I own
  2. Complete at least 4 or more roadtrips this year

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

2020 has set a really low bar for number of kilometers I can put in my car in a year.

Hopefully in 2021 I would be able to

1) Put at least 10K kilometers (hopefully will cross Atal tunnel soon)
2) Keep car healthy so I can retain it more than 8 years
3) Learn more about car mechanical and technical details
4) Last but not the least, be a safer and more patient driver

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

I would like to put down a few of mine:

1. Stop losing my cool by trying to drive aggressively to counter someone's crazy move on the road. Will instead consider enhancing my vocabulary of expletives inside the car.

2. Acceptance of oneself as the superior being, to forgive the mistakes of the lesser mortals

3. More road trips for sure. Only 1 in 2020

4. Not wait till the previous car is too old to sell it. Will sell it before the wheels literally come off, for a better value

5. Will give more importance to safety (bye bye Maruti!)

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

Since 2020 was a resolution of getting a 2nd car, resolution for 2021 is maintaining them right I guess.
PS: While am writing this am realizing that it took almost 12 months to fulfill the 2020 resolution.

For 2021
1. Restore my RX100 and use it occasionally (Copy paste from @V12)
2. Get back to riding more and do the monsoon run I have been planning.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

I sold my bike in 2014 in order to buy a bigger and better bike & then life happened. I have not been able to prioritize my wishes over family responsibilities & I think I would want to own a bike in 2021.

It is not a need but but a want & that is what has kept me away from riding all these years.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

My new year resolutions are.
1) Upgrade to Electric cars when the market is right.
2) Dont buy any cars for the next two years as electric is the future.
3) Stop checking prices for new cars in online portals.
4) Don't spend more than I have to on the cruze and the Thar 700.

What I'm doing right now.
1)Ogling at all the posts and beauties in Team-bhp
2) Wondering how the Harrier AT will feel like
3) Is Tucson the most underrated SUV in its segment?
4) Booking online spares for the Cruze cos I might need them later.
5) Doing up the Thar and taking it for a road trip

And yes. For the 10th year in a row, I'm planning to lose weight. Started at 62 Kgs and now at a healthy 73 Kgs.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2021

1. 2 road trips in 2021 (None in past 5 years, discounting multiple visits to relatives in 250 km radius).
2. Keep my Polo GT TSI and XCent Automatic in good shape
3. Keep cool while driving
4. Gawking less at Volvo cars (especially XC40, which I (i.e the brain) don't intend to buy).
