The time slot that I got is 12-4pm. I was planning to go by 2:30pm.

Are you saying that one needs to be there by 12pm itself to collect a token? Going there a little later wont work?

One of my office colleagues booked an appointment in Mysore district and they set out early in the morning to get the vaccine.
Now I’m getting WhatsApp messages that the hospital authorities are saying they don’t have sufficient vaccine stock yet and that whatever stock they have is awaiting someone to “inaugurate” the process. So now my colleague is waiting for hours.

You cannot make this stuff up! What kind of inauguration is this? To what end!? Absolute joke.

Faridabad - Haryana (Also Delhi)

Sharing my learning of pre-jab days of booking the slot and getting jabbed on 4th May.

- Vaccines were available. Abundant for the 45+. Fast moving for the 18+.

- Booking slots from the cowin website was easier than the app. Laptop has a bigger screen which shows rows and columns with dates, centres and available vaccine status in a single screen. Slots gets filled quite fast, like tatkal train booking.

- Centres get their share of vaccine quota in the evenings and slots accordingly reflect in the portal. It's very dynamic. 8 to 10 pm is a good window for booking.

- Instead of searching centres by pincode, search by choosing district.

- A booking made, gets cancelled, if a new booking is made. So confirm a booking immediately if any vacant slots are seen. Then keep on trying to get a slot nearer to your home. (Me and my wife were both trying and after getting slots booked at different locations, finally got the same slot and same locations after 5 to 6 tries/ bookings)

- Log on from multiple device to book fast. (Laptop, mobile etc)

- No need to carry any print out of the Appointment slip. Carry your identity proof only. Your booking is available with the centre and they verify it with your mobile number and identity proof.

- Once vaccinated, SMS is received and certificate download advice follows.

Healthy vaccination! Cheers!

There should be another option in the list - Wish to take the vaccine but no slots are available. That is the situation for most of us under 45 here in Bangalore. cowin is a daily lottery scheme right now.

Please call the hospital first to enquire about availability before going. In Bangalore, they were not giving vaccination to even those with cowin appointment after they finished the token handed over at 9 AM.

Was fortunate to get the 1st dose of vaccination done about 2 hours back.

I was fortunate to land a slot at ESIC Rajajinagar today morning around 9.30 via Cowin. I immediately went to the hospital even though the slot was 11.30-4pm. Luckily there was no crowd & I was the first vaccination done in 18-44 category at this centre. Smooth process. After the vaccination waited for 30 mins for observation. Got the confirmation SMS too & certificate is available on cowin portal for download.

There was no token system. They were going by booking done on Cowin & validate if your number is present in the day's list of bookings.

They have 150 slots every day and are giving Covidshield. A lot of government hospitals are opening up slots in Bangalore. So vaccination slots will increase in the coming days. The nodal officer at the hospital told me this.

Meanwhile, there was quite a long queue for 2nd dose for 60+.

Also, there were a lot of walkins asking for 1st slot [45+ as well as 18-44]. A lot of people unfortunately don't know that they need to book a slot. [not even sure if they have a smartphone or internet access]. The staff here though was trying their best to explain how to get a slot booked.

It is a taluk hospital and finding a contact number is not successful yet. But wondering, if the appointment is booked based on slots, why would the vaccine get over and why another token system. The slots are opened up based on the available quantity of vaccine right which must be reserved for those bookings.

There have been quite a few instances, few from this thread itself and from Bangalore where folks were turned back at the vaccination center after they turned up to get their jabs as per an appointment. They were asked to come back next day and get themselves vaccinated through the token system.

However, at times you may succeed with just the usual way of registering, booking and visiting as per the slot too.

I have been wary to take my parents to get their second jab which is now overdue and I have options like Doddaballapura, Nelemangala, Devanahalli and I can see slots available too. However, on yesterday a neighbor drove his parents till Devanahalli PHC after a confirmed appointment and got vaccinated. It is after this I rescheduled my parents' booking to this PHC at Devanahalli and I have got a slot for day after tomorrow and I remain hopeful, but partially and will purely depend on my luck if I can manage this.

I am also wondering if i can go ahead and book appointment at my hometown (Madhugiri). Availability of vaccine is not the concern, which I can find out from my sources before I go, but whether the travel would be allowed, considering the lockdown. If the screenshot of the appointment be considered as valid travel document, then I am good to book.

Edit - If I go ahead and book and could not make it due to travel ban, can I book another appointment later at Bangalore hospitals? Checking on how the Co-win App considers this.

I am also going to take this risk. I will take the print out of the appointments and my Dad's phone will have the CoWin app that will show these appointments but I also know that the cops may simply refuse to let us pass that barricade saying one cannot travel such distances for vaccination like they did last time restricting you to travel within your locality for groceries.

However, I am going to try and patiently explain it to any cop(s) who will stop and hope to get this done on day after.

I think you should be able to as the system will not mark you as vaccinated.

Sometimes, due process is not followed in our country. My observation was limited to first dose for 45+ category and I know that appointment is mandatory for 18+ category. Please share your experience after getting the jab :).

So as per the certificate generated after 1st jab my parents’ 2nd dose is due from May 7th to June 4th. But I don’t see any slots in Apollo Bannerghata road ever. Whenever I login it shows next few days fully booked and no other future dates with available slots. This is for 45+

So am wondering incase we don’t manage to get a slot by June 4th, will we have to go for first jab again? As in is there any maximum permissible gap between 1st & 2nd dose?

2nd dose delayed for many, experts say longer gap okay

In March, the Centre had extended the gap between Covishield doses from 4-6 weeks to 6-8 weeks. Experts later said further delays will not impact protection. They cited examples of the UK and Canada, where gaps between doses have been extended to 12 and 16 weeks respectively
I am no expert but I have been trying to gather as much information I can in this regard because the due date for my parents' second dose has passed.

Was lucky to get a slot at Bowring Hospital yesterday through the Twitter handle posted a few pages ago.

I was a little apprehensive with it being a Govt hospital and people complaining of having to wait hours amidst crowds at private hospitals but went ahead with the booking and have to say the experience was excellent.

They had opened up only 50 slots on a trial basis yesterday and only six were there when I reached so there was hardly any crowd and all Covid protocol was strictly followed. I reached the hospital at 12.20 as my slot was at 1pm. Initially I went to where the 45+ age group was being vaccinated but after asking around managed to find the right room.

Once there they first entered the secret code after which we proceeded to he vaccination room, the jab itself was painless and we were asked to wait to see if there was any discomfort in the arm. Here also each chair was atleast 3 feet away and room well ventilated so had no problem waiting. I received a confirmation message on the 1st dose and was able to download the certificate while waiting here.

After that it was a nice quick drive back home with an empty Cubbon road :D

I developed mild fever 12 hrs post the shot which has now disappeared but now I feel tired and have pain in my left arm where the shot was administered. I'm guessing I should be fine by tomorrow or day after tops.

I also spotted a bhpian cars in the parking lot, XUV 500 with a LTD sticker.

If you get a lot at a govt center please don't hesitate to go as as of now it seems better than going to private hospitals.Just attaching a pic of the waiting room to give you an idea

Got myself and my wife vaccinated on Sunday (May 9th) in Apollo Cancer Institute, Teynampet, Chennai. We are in the 18-44 age group and had booked the 9:00 am slot. Vaccination taken was Covisheild.

Vaccination process was smooth with enough physical distancing. A nurse checked for temperature, gave a questionnaire to fill for any symptoms. One done we paid for the vaccinations (850*2), got vaccinated and had mandatory wait period of 15 minutes to check for any adverse effects. Overall it was extremely professional and the whole process was completed within one hour. By evening 5pm, Cowin website reflected the 1st vaccination details for both of us along with the certificate.

I did not face any major side effects from vaccination leaving for body pain/weakness (like one had run a marathon) and some soreness in my left arm. My wife had high fever yesterday (101F ~ 102F) but has since now subsided leaving only body pain.
