Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

Guys (new to self-tax-filing ) like me would find this link helpful.

From Form 16 to ITR AY 2015-2016/

This blog has screenshots & references to Form 16B (from where we are supposed to copy & where in the ITR online pages/tabs)

For a simple tax calculation / filing - like salaried folks, I think, it's worth spending few minutes & learning to do our taxes on our own.

Thanks,

Ace.

Unimportant-clarification-
I have been messing up my ITRs since last 2 years (Due to my own mistakes) - due to which I have a couple of CPC intimation notices, that I have to respond to.
Need to file corrections for that.

So, I wanted to make sure, I am doing it right this time.

For turnover about 25L as consultant, Audit etc. are mandatory and then both the Audit report has to be accepted and return filed. Digital signature in mandatory.

Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

I can use some advice here .

I started working in 2012 June, though my take home salary was less than the income tax slab , I got a "cash bonus" from the company which was directly credited to my bank account. The IT was filed for that year.

Now for the FY 2012-2013 , I received no such bonus , and did not file IT at all (I did not know that I had to file ).

Now, I have a job with a different employer. Should I still file the previous year's tax and then file this years??

Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

I am an individual. I see only ITR-1 and ITR-4S under my e-file options. I have always used ITR-1. I have one house property.

There was some confusion this year regarding forms. Hope there is no change for individuals with above criteria.

Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

I missed sending the ITR acknowledgement for 07-08. The fines have been accumulated to around 65k.
I own up the mistake and am ready to pay. But what are my options? Will they provide any discount? Can i pay in parts(in fact this is the only possibility for me right now)?
Any helpful links?

Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

A problem esp for married ladies. For some time they tend to use both their maiden and married names. Aadhar seeding is impossible in these cases (name mismatch).

Also, there has been a lot of hullabaloo about no need to send an ack with almost no mention of the need to seed your profile with Aadhar.

Aadhar can't be a mandatory requirement for e-filing, as then it would be a direct violation of the Supreme Court's order that Aadhar cannot be mandatory for anything.

Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

Apologies for the back-to-back posts. The window for post editing is past.

As per this document section 14(s)(iv), for evaluating foreign assets and income one needs access to historic buying rate of SBI for the currency of the asset. Does anyone know where this information is available? I have checked SBI's website but couldn't find it.

Edit: Found it within minutes of posting this, at https://rbi.org.in/scripts/ReferenceRateArchive.aspx

Used hrblock.in to file taxes this time. Pretty straight-forward process and costs around 400 Rs for salary + interest income.

Filing via the income tax website is also easy and you can do it for free.

Yes it is not that difficult, did that for last couple of years.

Having someone else run the numbers across multiple Form 16s (Employer, Banks ) and validate deductions is easier. All I had to do was to upload all the form 16s and investment proofs.

Do you need to upload form 16 ? Don't recall having done that while filing tax returns thru the income tax efiling website. Is it now mandatory to upload the investment proofs and Form16?

These documents are not required while filing through income tax website.

If a third party service is used, they would need documents to prepare tax computation.

Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

When I tried to eFile, it says I need to pay fine for not paying tax advanced tax on time (for income other than salaries, tax was paid in march and not every quarter as was supposed to be done). Now the question is how do I pay interest. Does bank do it (tax was paid in bank - no idea about interest).

Re: All Income Tax Queries (refunds, disputes, rates etc...)

You can pay it at a bank or online - select the appropriate option (such as that you received a notice and notice number thereof), and put the interest in the interest column
