The credit here must go to Bosch. They have the expertise and convincing power to get the orders from both these companies.

I wil read it as safety. Nano is not a highway car and driving in city requires some basic safety of requirements and not ABS and Airbags. Tata has managed to provide the same.

How does this matter? Both would have signed different confedentiality aggerements with BOSCH...We do have same suppliers suppling the same parts to different auto makers (Of course the design will be different)

Guys, I'm not talking about Bosch, they're the undisputed leaders & most companies now developing CRDI's have very few options to choose from.

I'm talking about FEV who are developing the diesel engine for the Nano & the hybrid for the Scorpio. Remember how both the 2.2's of Tata and M&M were developed by AVL, Austria? My comment was in reference to that!

Tata are probably aware of the proverb once bitten twice shy, since their work with Delphi produced a Dicor which is not great shakes.

My guess is that both are privy to inside information from each other and are therefore queueing to the same guys

Cheapest airbag per pop seems to be on the Estillo @ 6k
Tata's aim is 10$ and they need to have it as standard equipment if they have to sell it abroad.

I saw a white Nano with MH temp plates being driven around in Coimbatore - Was a crowd puller wherever it went. It was peak rush hour - and I was driving and hence could not take a snap.

It had already met with its first shunt - there was a noticeable dent in the rear already!

Some more news on the compressed air car CAT

The cost of a refill would be about Rs. 85 ($ 2). Tata motors also plans to launch the world's cheapest car, Tata Nano priced famously at One lakh rupees by October."
