I want to buy a nebulizer for my 2 week old daughter, as doctor has advised nebulization (with saline solution) thrice a day.
I need information on how to choose one. I dont understand what particle size, nebulization rate etc means.
I dont know if any nebulizer used for adults can be used for infants, hence the question

I was also advised Nebulization for my kid.
I bought one from Apollo Pharmacy, Apollo branded. Don't remember the price, but it was 2000 or so.
Other branded ones would cost you around 3000 or so.

Nebulization is required to keep the respiratory tract and lungs clear for easier breathing. The respiratory tract gets choked with cough / mucus / infection only during a flu and sometimes due to allergy (pollens, dust, pollution).
This generally happens if the kid is exposed to sudden cold environment, like sitting under a fan running at high speed, or entering - exiting - entering AC room frequently, long exposure to dust and pollution on roads.

My kid required nebulization between the age of 6 months - 1.5 years. That included 2 winters. He was admitted to hospital ICU twice, and all they did was give Nebulization and some Antibiotic injection.
I invested in a low cost brand (Apollo) nebulizer because it is not a regular use product, and only needed may be once in 6 months or so, specially during winters.

I would recommend you to buy a simple low cost one as you would need it till max 2 years when the kid develops her own immunity.
Till 2 years, try to keep her warm. Even though she sweats a bit, don't expose her to direct fan or AC. Be careful about trees around your home, pollens can cause allergy also.

How to detect a breathing problem and to use nebulizer -> Look at the lungs and stomach area. Look for very fast breating (fast contraction - relaxation of muscles). Do observe this when the kid is idle (and not sleeping), not after a session of jumping around. Nebulize the kid for 10 mins. The doctor has asked you to use saline water considering the age of just 14 weeks. Depending on age, the doctor may suggest antibiotic nebulization (Duolin and Budecort respules combined),if required. Don't worry, it is a very common thing and gets away soon. As a first time parent, we panicked a lot during those days.

The same nebulizer can be used for adults also, with adult medicines. It is just the holder which holds the medicine needs to be cleaned and dried each time after use.

Yes, any nebulizer would work the same way for adults and infants.
The face mask comes in various sizes.
Normally when you buy a new nebulizer, the package would contain two face masks - one for adult, one for infants. Choose a smaller one for your infant.

Hello all, I need some suggestion. My daughter had a fall around 1 year back and the impact hit her front left tooth. It started to bleed we took her to the doctor and they recommended that we should give her some ice cream and that there is nothing else recommended. The bleeding stopped after the first few ice cream bites. The tooth however started turning grey. A few months back we got the tooth checked by 3 different dentists. All recommended a pediatric root canal. Got it done this Sunday. My daughter is 3.5 yrs
I hope I did the right thing. Would this require a cap? Or just normal filling. The doctor suggested filling.
The doctor says that this won't cause any issues in the future even when she gets her permanent tooth. Is this true?

My stomach has been feeling distended for the past one week. It's as if there is lots of air inside. Physically it is a little large but have not always felt like this. It is firm on tapping with finger. I do not pass gas much, and pass stool in lesser quantity then normal. What could be the problem?

Paid a visit to an ENT for my wife. Doc started with generic questions and seen inside the nose and throat and informed its just a allergy to dust. No cold water, sleeping under fan, exposed to dust outside.

Medications prescribed Leon, Allegra 120mg and Nasonex nasal spray. Wife is now good, and finally was able to find what is the cause of her sudden conditions too. A sip of cold water brings this back, so the water bottles in my fridge are now vanished and we are only drinking hot water which will help in weight reduction too.

It is actually the other way round. Cold water intake causes more calories to burn.

I've this issue of blocked nose when I get up in the morning. While sleeping, I tend to breathe through my mouth sometimes. I checked up with ENT specialist who diagnosed it as " deviated septum" and suggested surgery as the only remedy.

Can experts here advise any alternatives ?

I had the same issue. I did no want to get a surgery done. Discussed with my cousins who are doctors and they said that 90% of us have a deviated septum. I started with pranayam about a month back and there is improvement. The advised duration of a pranayam is 15 mins daily but I can't take my body and lungs beyond 3 mins and my lazy body does not want to do it everyday. For nights if you want an immediate solution then get - Breath Right Strips. They will provide relief till the time pranayam starts showing improvement.

What I have read is that a DNS surgery only weakens the nose bone. And this weak bone may cause issues in the future. Plus this surgery is not as simple as doctors say. My friend got it done and he said that his nose was stuffed with cotton for a couple of days after the surgery and he would only breath through his mouth. Day was easy but at nights not being through the nose is very uncomfortable specially when it is stuffed with cotton

A swollen gland in the nasal cavity Is the main cause of such breathing difficulties. And pranayam rectifies just this
