I would suggest you pick up something that is polarized.

Hi beejay, can you suggest a good pair of driving glasses? I can't drive without my shades and looking to replace the current one that I am using.

Looking for something polarized with dark tints and budget around 5k. I prefer a snug fit.

Hello DeetJohn,

Have a look at the Mauijims SugarBeach, Breakwall and Lighthouse. Will fit within your budget.

All the three are lightweight nylons with polarized plus 2 tech.

For all you Spider Man fans, this is what I just got for myself. A limited edition spider man collection Mauijim.

The webbing is not visible when you wear it. Only people seeing you can see it.

Where can i go and checkout a good collection of RayBan's in Bangalore? :uncontrol

I am currently using A Golden Rayban as i wear priscription sunglasses so i had the glasses replaced with a pair of Poloroid Glasses.

If you take it to the dealer, I am sure he can arrange a new temple side for a marginal cost. Tell him you are willing to pay for the same, even for a pair.

In most cases it would be possible, else ask him to put on some other temple sides. I would suggest taking it to some independent than a chain store where it would be most likely done.

If everything fails, post it to me and I will get it done for you for free.

Benny

Yesterday was in lifestyle. They have a pretty decent collection of glasses, including ray bans. Otherwise, a couple of malls have good glasses stores. Best of course is a good optical store. Which part of Bangalore is convenient for you. Accordingly can advise what is best

There is an exclusive shop for glasses at Mantri mall.

Sunglass Hut (Upper Ground Floor)

Edit: found another link of the store,

Sunglass Hut has a very good collection of Ray Ban. The downside is that you don't much variety in entry-level price range. I got my Ray Ban Aviator from the Sunglass Hut outlet in Inorbit Mall, Hyderabad while there for a visit. The starting range was from Rs 4k.

I do understand that this is an "ownership" thread for sunglasses. I am a potential "owner" of sunglassess too and I hope this query here is not considered OT. Excuse me.

I have a negative power of close to 1.5 in my current spectacles. This has always been a hindrance for me to wear sunglasses as I hate contact lenses. And I hate those clip-on shades even more.

Until recently, I wasn't aware that there are sunglasses with power lenses available these days. I do not know of the pros and cons except for one that any writing like "ray ban" on the original lens would be lost.

Any apart from these ?

1. Please educate me on what I should/should not go for.
2. And more importantly, where in Bangalore would be a reliable place to realize this dream of mine.

Sunglass Hut is the retail of the RayBan manufacturer. However their prices are not always the lowest. RB aviators start at much lower MRP's.

You have a lot of options to choose from now-a-days.

It is not necessary that the branding on the lenses need to go. The Mauijim prescription range carry the logo even for the prescriptions.

You could buy prescription sunlgasses(lenses) starting at Rs.350 a pair, non polarised starting at Rs. 950 a pair for polarised and upwards.

Ideally it would be best to stick below and 8 base curve for better vision on peripheral and nasal area. However with good quality lenses, it is now possible to have even wrap around styles for high numbers too.

The mauijim prescriptions are actually something, try it on to beleive yourself.

There are a dime a dozen stores in Bangalore that are Mauijim delaers who will be able to help you.

Just log onto their website and search for their dealers accordinjg to your location.

All the best

Interesting, my son would love it, too bad I need prescription.

That reminds me, I remember seeing glasses long back with mirror patterns only visible from front. Have you seen any in market recently (abstract, lines, not the spider webs)?
