Re: Which watch do you own?

Not into collection of watches but do wear one. My first watch was passed on to me by my father back in 1990. It was the Alba ana-digi watch. He preferred his regular Citizen watch over the Alba.

I used this till 1995. It stopped working and was beyond repair. The same year my parents gifted me the Timex Indiglo Ironman Triatholon watch on my birthday. The strap of this watch had alternate metal and rubber links. One of the rubber links broke after 2 years. The cost of the new strap was on the higher side.

Luckily the metal strap of the Alba fit the Timex perfectly! Don't have a proper closeup image of this combo unfortunately.

The Timex-Alba combo was working fine without any issues. In 2013, I had a minor scooter accident where the watch was damaged.

Was looking for a watch that looks like a formal analog one but also had digital display. Got the Casio AW-80-7AV ana-digi watch in 2013 and have been using it ever since. It has lot of features like telememo, world time (29 time zones), etc. But hardly use any of them.

It amazes me how Casio manages to maintain such high quality precision in a US $50 watch. I have seen and owned expensive watches where the bezel pip at 12 'O clock position does not line up perfectly (both quartz and mechanical automatic) and also the seconds hand does not hit all the markers perfectly. No such issue in my Casio Marlin.

I sincerely hope that Casio develops its own mechanical automatic movement watch. If it does then it has the potential to disrupt and give bigger brands a run for their money. But I guess Casio caters to a different market.
Hi Navin,

It's a beauty that you own right here. If you don't mind, could let me know from where you have sourced this? This model is not available in India, I have been searching for this from some time.

Thanks mate, it is a beauty indeed. Like everything imported the cost of this watch in India even if available through Amazon is exorbitant. Like the Oceanus I believe Casio does not offer this iconic watch in India officially, which is frustrating. The actual street price hovers around US $50 or even less. I asked my brother in law to buy this watch for me while he was in Europe.

Be in mind the Duro/Marlin is a relatively BIG watch although looks small in pictures online. I wouldn't recommend this to someone having less than 7 inch wrist as it almost touches 50mm lug to lug and is 44mm in diameter.

Re: Which watch do you own?

HMT Gandaberunda, beautiful watch from our local brand, limited run variant, made with Gandaberunda motif which is symbol of Lord Vishnu!

Numerals are in Kannada language with thin printing so it does have proper dress watch vibe.

More information on Gandaberunda symbol,

Wish HMT will regain its popularity back in our market as they still make some interesting watches!

Re: Which watch do you own?

Love the mechanical watches from HMT. Have been using them from quite few years now. Attaching whatever I have collected so far. I also have Casio classic , the square dial, which they had launched recently in honour of the original classic, which is also my regular wear.

P.s the pocket HMT watch is my grand dads. It must be easily more than 50 year old. Still works and keeps accurate time.

HMT enthusiasts -

Few pilots are available on HMT watches website. Blue, Green and maroon dials. Same time, i am part of a JANATA group buy ( Silver / Blue hands) being run by a fellow enthusiast from Bangalore. If any one is interested, will be happy to put him in touch.

If it's a Lange, I need a high quality shot of the movement like any watch aficionado would.

Congrats on getting the 2nd best brand in the Richemont line-up.

You're moving pretty close to some of the ridiculous collections of seasoned watch guys and celebrities.

Re: Which watch do you own?

I'm not much of a watch guy, but always wanted to own a HMT. Finally ordered one with the Pilot olive coloured dial. Was torn apart between the olive, black and white. Posting a screenshot from a youtube video. Will post the actual picture as soon as I receive the watch.
