Ethos had a bigger discount but no stock of the Panda colour. Finally Helios came close to the price with EMI and card offer.

Ethos has the best discount for Seiko but they seem to be sold out and maybe no longer stocking Seiko from what Helios and Zimson guys keep telling me.

I found Zimson with good service but Helios and Ethos do better on discounts.

This one is interesting. I've never seen this in person and considering their price, I didn't think these will sell. What made you go for this?

Has anyone tried diywatch club? They’ve got some good looking watches. Mostly seiko or miyota movements.

The movement is a solid Swiss Sellita automatic. From what I understand, they are doing reasonably well. The owner himself gets involved which is a good thing. I wanted a nice Indian watch which wasn’t a Titan - I have an HMT flieger but for all its charm, it just didn’t cut it.

Would I recommend it? Sure - the caseback is amazing.I’ll post a pic - as you can see it is a tribute to India’s first fighter jet.

Side note, I think they are trying to sell stories as much as the watches.

Re: Which watch do you own?

My OG G-shock and a Seiko Mod. The Casio is an all-rounder rugged as typical G-shocks, this one is the 5600 model. The Seiko can have different opinions, but I want my first Automatic watch from my first salary to be of my taste and budget. It is a handcrafted automatic Seiko watch with intricate designs and premium materials. Personalized with custom detail, from the color of the dial to the shape of the bezel.Which watch do you own?-image-8.jpg

Hi,

If possible, can you please elaborate on the issues you have with the resin straps?

I am looking for a new watch and the “G-Shock G-5600UE-1DR” is one of the watches in consideration, hence asking.

Thank you in advance.

It is known as resin rot. Here is an informative link:

Though my G-Shock Riseman (JDM) shows no sign of this, even after 15 years!

After 12 years, I got finally upgraded to Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Tactical. I always buy watches at store, this was at the Garmin Store at Indiranagar. I had gone to check out the Instinct 2 Solar, but they only had the non-solar version. But they did have 2X Solar in Flame Red (45K) and the grey Tactical Edition (52K). They didn't have the black 2X solar in stock.

I took a snap and messaged the wife, and she told me "Grey is your color, and red isn't".

That's true, I wouldn't want to draw attention wearing a flaming red watch. Thus, I ended up the tactical edition simply for the color.

Adding info/backstory on the watches from left to right:

Titan HTSE - The earliest watch that I still use, but since it’s solar-driven, the battery has to be replaced as its capacity is now about 20-30%. I had bought the Titan Automatic, but it was a bad experience, and I got this watch as a replacement.

Tissot TT T095XXX Ceramic - I was really interested in getting the Rado True Round R27238162, but it was around ₹1 lakh at the time, and I didn’t have the money. Instead, the people at Kapoor Watch Co. gave me an excellent option, which came straight from Switzerland/China. One downside of this watch is that the case is metal and not ceramic, which would have been true for a Rado True Round.

Swatch SS07S116GG - An airport purchase and not a good buy at all—it pulls my hair like crazy. I quite liked the skeleton dial on a quartz watch, but it wasn’t worth it since telling the time is also an issue in strong sunlight.

There are a few watches between the above and the ones below, but they have either been sold or are broken.

Nebula NS5067DL07 - This is an investment piece, the first of two, due to the 18k solid gold. With the raised Lakshmi taking center stage, it’s very different from the Omegas and Rolexes of the world. I was a bit apprehensive before I got it since I eat non-veg, but a visit to the pandit sorted things out. This watch is in rotation, and the strap is a navy blue Perlon strap, which I bought from an airport.

Tudor Pelagos M25600TB-0001 - I really liked Tudor not only because of its relationship with Rolex but also because they do designs that Rolex has never done, like the M79012M-0001, which I had booked but later decided against after learning about patina issues on almost all bronze watches. I settled for the M25600TB-0001, but if I had waited, I would have definitely bought the M79210CNU-0007. It used to be in rotation, but I got scared of damaging its machinery (due to my "Titan Automatic experience") and being handed a huge repair bill. This is the most expensive watch I own or have ever owned.

Nebula NP5015DL08 - This is an investment piece, the second of two, due to the 18k solid gold. I had expressed interest in the Nebula NS5015DL07 since I didn’t have any rectangular watches, and that opened the floodgates. The NS5015DL07 is priced ridiculously high—almost 2x the price of the other Nebula I bought—and it wasn’t a given that I could afford it. After many calls, I agreed to visit their showroom, and while they were pushing the NS5015DL07, I noticed the NP5015DL08. It has the same case (minus the diamonds) and the same gold weight as the NS5015DL07. I was sold and took a small loan for this new gift. The rest is history. This watch is in rotation, and the strap is a brown SYLVI NATO strap, which I ordered online since it’s an odd size at 23mm.
