Re: Any Golfers here?

Any Golfing enthusiasts or wanting to learn..
Try Touché Golf Academy. I learnt my golf there and in 6 months have managed to get to playing in BGC.
It is a little far. Those familiar with the Bangalore demography, it is near Kogilu cross on the BIAL road

And this is not marketing
I was a student there. They have a 9 hole course too

Re: Any Golfers here?

Hi to all the Golf enthusiasts.
When I was in US I used to visit the nearby golf courses and have become fascinated with this sport. I want to learn this as I feel it requires the least amount of running . I will be coming back to India next week and kindly suggest any good place where I can go for training and also some idea regarding the amount I need to spend on a amateur golf kit and training.

Regards

Buy yourself a set while you are still abroad. The U S is the best place for golf equipment deals.

If you are a beginner, would recommend not buying new Golf sets / expensive ones. Check the web and you will find good used sets at reasonable price. Unless you get a hang of the game, are able to spend reasonable time to learn and spend lot of time on the range and the putting green, this game could be quite frustrating. When you have had good exposure and are willing to get on to the course ( the likes of JP Greens in Delhi or the KGA / BGC in Bangalore) you may think of a better set.

There are used sets available at as low as Rs 8k- 10k

Welcome back.Happy Driving!!..on the road and in the Golf Course

Re: Any Golfers here?

I was always enamored by the game. And I always wanted to have a go at it as a kid. Dad discouraged me, saying it's a grown-up's game and what not. And then he gave it a try.

As of next month, I shall be starting a beginner's course at the KGA. Will nick my dad's other set of clubs and be on my way.

That is interesting. Most Sundays, we play a 4 ball at ASC.
Still amatuerishly amateur..but fun all the way.

Maybe we can meet up. This week looks tough with plans to be at Clover Greens, Eagleton and probably Prestige Golfshire. Long weekend staring us in the face

Great to see this thread. I have been playing for about 18 months off and on - usually at Clover Greens or ASC. Would be happy to meet with other golf and car enthusiasts.
I am traveling for most of the second half of August but can surely meet up once I am back.I will be in Pune during 26-30 August and am keen to check out the Oxford course.

I was told that the green fees at golfshire is INR 4000/- . Pretty steep!

When I was applying for the membership at Golfshire, there were two options for annual membership. The cheaper one came with a discount in green fee on weekends @ 3500/-. When asked how much is the general fee, was told 4500/-

Ten tee off's there and I can buy me a good King Cobra set!

Weekday is 2000/- inclusive of lunch. So, guess it is a good deal

Obviously, playing on weekdays is not a possibility unless one takes the day off. And that may not be often

Re: Any Golfers here?

Finally I find a thread dedicated to Golf. Though this thread is lying dormant for the last 1.5 years. Sad to see no posts from Delhi NCR Guys. I am sure some of us would surely be playing this wonderful game.

I play as often as possible, every weekend and sometimes week days.

Now a days there are credit cards which allow you to play 2 or 4 games per month with green fee waived off. But these cards come with a fee. I have an Amex & ICICI which allow me play 2 games each free of cost at either JP Green, ITC Classic Manesar & Golden Green Manesar.

These cards come with an annual fee of 5k ~ 10k. Which I suppose is a steal.

So any beginner holding back because of the prohibitively high green fees, there is hope.

Any of you if interested can PM me for more details.

Hi

I had started playing while in college right here at Pune Club golf course and occasionally also played during my early stages of career, but then could not keep up to the game due to lack of time and changing priorities / cities / countries etc

I think I am once again grounded in Pune now, and also seem to have found some of you here, so I can probably rekindle an old love

I have my weekends available, will be glad to join you guys in the mornings
