Interesting thread. May be honk once and when you get the other TBHPian attention give a thumbsup signal. This will work in case both cars are running parallel.

I am hoping to see a final decision on how to convey a Hi to a fellow TBHPian

Team BHP handle stickers will work great - unless the car is being driven by someone else - family member / driver.

Guys ,
People hardly notice flashing during daylight

And please avoid hand gestures as driving parallelly you will have to reach to the passenger side window to show them. You might as well end up scratching the bhpmate's vehicle.

We used to have a lot of honking signals during school days.
Actually every schools used to have a honking anthem

Lets device a honking anthem ,sequence of honks which should be unique.

A team-bhp anthem could be composed. The same could be converted to a format, which would help enable it to be the horn sound ! This should be made available to members only ! And with the tapping of a switch the anthem horn should be enabled. After sounding the anthem, switch back to stock horn

'yaadon ke barat' song just came to my mind lol

Joking guys but yes it's a serious possiblity.

Ok let's make this serious. We have honking which is the only perfect way. So it has to be a sound. How about something simple like three long blasts (I'm thinking it stands for B-H-P!!)? The other car can respond with the same three blasts. And then we can pull over and chat.

Have a deep bass throated voice recording that says " Hey BHP-ian, howdy, me 2 a BHP-ian"

Save it as mp3

burn a CD

While ICE-ing ensure that you have one loudspeaker on the bonnet grill that is minimum 100 w rms.

Play the recording when you spot another bhp-ian

Morse code, any takers?

An interesting thread !

How about the S.M.S in morse code?

Three short honks, two long honks followd by three short ones. Similar to the one we get on our fones when the sms comes.

It is actually S M S in morse code (dit dit dit dah dah dit dit dit).

Any hand gesture should be avoided.
Flashing can be avoided too, some drive with headlights on etc.
So the only way is through sound. But honking loud & long should be avoided. It would irritate the other person and cause sound pollution (imagine you are driving through Bandipur!)
My suggestion would be light honking 3 times in quick succession (bip bip bip) so as to sound distinct & playful. Wait for other guy to respond & repeat once again if no reply and repeat the 3rd time. By this time if it is one of us...you got our attention

Hi Guys,

The idea is good. I do observe and find only the discussion is going on. Did you all come with any constructive ides. Some members are already having the stickers. Some could not get. So though we are BHPians we are lacking to get stickers. Then how we are going to spot and meet. Find some solution and let you make it announced by the forum admins.

Just switch on your headlights and drive behind the other car BUT do not overtake. That must be sufficient for the other car to notice that someone wants to draw attention and not merely pass by. In case they fail to notice or it's dark, after 30 seconds, a short honk, lights hi low flash and follow again. Possible acknowledgment can be a flash of the hazards.

The most visible part of the car following is the windscreen. Put a sticker that stands apart on the front windscreen.

If all else fails, try to pass and get the lead and show off your stickers on the rear.

If the leading vehicle wants to stop, it can signal using the left blinker and slow sown on the left side. If the following vehicle also does the same, it must be a bhpian on the road, otherwise the vehicle will just simply pass by without knowing what happened.

BUT by all means, give up after a few tries if the lead vehicle does no want to respond for whatever reason and post on the spotted thread. The person might respond later.

If you see some vehicle behind you, and your vehicle has no stickers, flash hazards for 10 seconds every 30 seconds. An acknowledgment can be a headlight flash.

OT: will a laser pointer aimed at the orvm help? i'm running away.

Optimist at his best.

Guys someone innovative enough has to get to a code soon otherwise this thread is going to go on for another decades and till then we would just keep passing by other t-bhpians on road but failing to communicate.

How about keeping a toggle switch for only one parking light, say the right one. All of us can use this when we are on the highways. Even the cars from the opp direction can find out what we are.. The Best !

have you people taken the fact that the car with a tbhp sticker is possibly driven by other member's of the bhpians family and honking and flashing will make you look like a douche?

Good point.
We're an automobile enthusiast community, not a gang.

Honking and flashing lights at other drivers on the road just might get you into trouble. Not to mention the added noise pollution and nuisance to other drivers.

If you see a fellow BHPian that you recognize on the road and want to get his/her attention, a polite hello! will work much better than yelling, honking and flashing (lights).

Let's just be civil while driving and leave our interactions for the online forum and meets.

Drive safe!
