nos adding up to 9 are also considered lucky...

my 800 adds up to 9 and falls in the 0-1000 category and my esteem falls in the 5001-6000 category.

All in DXB. The E240 is no more since I parted ways with my, er, partnership.

You BID for VIP and other numbers in the UAE. The Police also comes up with periodic advertisements when they release 3 & 4-digit and 'special' 5-digit numbers. These are advertised in all major newspapers with the numbers up for sale and the prices for each of them. There was one such ad today, with the costliest 4 digit number advertised at 50,000 Dhs. At least year's auction, someone actually paid Dhs250,000 for a number.
