1950's, 60's and 70's Hindi songs?

My contribution is this fabulous albeit small collection of Geeta Dutt Songs.

I was introduced to old songs by my mom who had a fabulous collection of LP's & cassettes. My fondest memories are those of my mom driving & listening to these old songs in our White Ambassador Regn. No. 3664 & me and her singing together. Yes, my mom had been driving since she was 18, first car was a Standard Herald. Not much driving now though. She learnt driving even before my father.

A few days back heard this song on TV and thought of posting it. Remember that it was a very rare thing to have a telephone. As late as 1960 I had to walk more than 300 metres to the neighbourhood Irani cafe to make a call

A remix version of both the songs became popular on MTV/V TV more than 10 years back. In case any body is interested please do see it . Both sound better because of the orchestras.

After demise of Shailendra in 67 and Jaikishan in 70, the big-banners left the kings. They were left with lesser known ones. But in spite of that, one could see that flash of genius show-up once in a while till early 70s.

Coming here after a long time. A point of debate with my friends in college times. The point in contention was :

Classic singers like Mukesh sang the songs with the correct pronunciation of the words. But Rafi, altered the wave to suit the mood of the song. And this below one is a perfect example.

But that does not say in anyway the song is not good! It used to be a contention and a debate that ran late into the night for hours! Times long gone!

An evergreen classic from the house of OP Nayyar. He was one of the few guys who created maximum impact with minimal music. And the memory tends to stay. This one is from "Baharein Fir Bhi Aayengi"

Of course! Some how always loved both the Hemant numbers from that movie. The one before and the duet. As smooth as the previous one. (Ek Baar Zara Fir Keh Do).

As for Kohra, my favourite remains "Ye Nayan"

Two songs from Sambandh - Hemant Kumar teaming up with Mahendra Kapoor! Music is by OP Nayyar, but feels very un-OP Nayyar like, and is quite close to a SD Burman/Ravi creation.

Second one is during the climax of the film and is a bit long, but worth listening from beginning to end due to the wonderful lyrics by Kavi Pradeep.

Been watching live renditions by the original singers of their most notable numbers recently.

For example, check out Kishoreda's live presentation of his evergreen romantic number from the film, Blackmail. I think it was shown on Doordarshan in the late 70s. Orchestra is by Kalyanji-Anandji:
