Man, that was awesome and by far the best post on this whole thread. Sure will lighten things up a bit. But somehow I feel that sonalika Rhino will also bear the brunt, that also doesn't look that tough.

Come on guys, we take humor when we want to and throw it when we don't.?
You just reinforced my point!

If in your opinion the "Veriii Nayce" ad can influence, what stops the Polo ad from imparting similar influence? In case you think such people do not exist who can actually try out such things, then think again..check out the link below, this may change your opinion about the extent people can be dumb!

The Funniest Parenting Fails Of All Time (PHOTOS)

It is not as if I or the OP is against Polo ad..nobody is cribbing about the mineral water bottle/22kmpl ad.

The issue is with the lines where the ad exhorts people to search for a rhino, go closer and blast the horn or grab an ostrich egg.....

The link you quoted had 17 pictures. There are a billion people in the world.

The issue is with the lines where the ad exhorts people to search for a rhino, go closer and blast the horn or grab an ostrich egg.....

And who the hell is going to do that?

Even if some sonofagun decides to, how will he enter a sanctuary with his Polo (which mind you, with its GC won't last 100 mts into the place) and locate a rhino and blow a horn and not be trampled to death and not be shot to death by the rangers?

Seriously guys! C'mon, the ads pretty low on humor but saying that it will make people go take on Rhinos is just too far-fetched.

^^ Exactly. I would love to see any one person taking his car, go to a wildlife sanctuary and confront a rhino with Blasting horns? Now, people may argue, someone could be inspired to try this with a buffalo standing on the road.
These kind of ads are over-exaggeration of reality, to attract the already ad-overdosed reader / TV watcher and that's about it.

BTW, if I am in the market for a new car, why should I check if the car can go over an Ostrich's egg or not?

And why is Ostrich's egg cosidered as a benchmark of ground clearance?
And why is an average indian car buyer expected to know the size of Ostrich's egg?

And...VW thinks that an Indian car owner driving a shameful 3 cylinder engine will honk a Rhino?

Is the Polo only supposed to be driven in jungles ? In places where only animals are seen on the roads ? In places that do not resemble cities ?

Folks, if the VW is going to 'inspire' people going after Rhinos, check this Mazda ad in UK.

Hmm. Ad seems inspired by tractor tipping antics of Mater and McQueen in Cars

Looks like thread starter searched for a Rhino in vain!!

Do you really think the guys are serious when they say "Go looking for a Rhino"? I dont understand whats wrong with the ad. It re-inforces the purpose which is to highlight the specific capability of the car.

And what's that capability please?
A tiny anaemic noisy 3 cylinder engine?

This is pointless. If you do not like something about a car, please do not be just plain dismissive about it.

Being impartial, the Polo is a great deal in everything except engine refinement and performance.

For some people the other factors are more important and they find the current levels of refinement and performance satisfactory.

In any case, this discussion belongs to the Polo TD thread.

The issue here is not the humor in the ad or for that matter buffalo or rhino or ostrich..it may as well be a dog or cat or monkey..

The point of discussion is the scant consideration and insensitivity shown towards wildlife resources. This is what Shankar Balan is trying to convey. Chances are, the mind(s) behind the ad are not nature lovers. If they are really creative, why not convey the strongpoints of Polo using the same props, but in turn, protray wildlife in a better light or with greater sensitivity. At least, we will have some comical & sensible relief from those stupid cement ads boasting about the products stength;-}

For those who are ROFLOL after seeing an ostrich chasing a man, check this thread for a daily dose of quality humor: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...ke-thread.html
