I have done Mumbai - Kumta, Kumta - Mumbai nearly 800 Kms quite a few times. Initially it used to take 18 hrs & now 12 Hrs. I have also done Mumbai -Goa - Mumbai same day i.e 1000 Kms+.

The most difficult time was once when I did Mumbai - Kumta at Night & by the time I reached yellapur ( Early Morning) I was having a tough time.

I love solo-long drives. I hate long drives with a tightly packed car, with 4 or more passengers.

The max distance I covered solo, was about 560 Kms, Cochin to Bangalore day time drive. Morning 6 am to evening 4:20 PM.

Longest solo drive which i had done was from Chennai to Tirunvelveli in my esteem and its about 653Km. I was able to cover this distance in 10hours including breaks (had to take a long break in Madurai so that my parents dont panic) but i do not want to repeat it again. During the drive i was feeling so lonely and to comeover this feeling i was driving at high speeds above 120 and touching 140 often to ensure that i reach my destination early. To my surprise i reached Trichy in 4.5 hours which normaly takes 6 hours. Not sure how many people would have cursed me for that crazy driving.

Longest solo I've done is Delhi-Udaipur-Mumbai-Shirdi-Pune-Mumbai-Udaipur-Delhi (6 days one other person in the car and I was the only driver, around 4100 kms), Delhi-Shivpuri-Delhi (one night halt-solo); Noida-Chandigarh-Jammu-Noida (2 days-only driver, one passenger 1350 kms); Bangalore-Mumbai-Bangalore (3 times-single driver; 3 days 2100 kms); Bangalore-Hyderabad-Bangalore (one night halt, single driver 1300 kms) - all by Corsa Sail. Several south drives Bangalore-Ooty, Coorg, Waynad, Mahabalipuram, Pondicherry, Chennai etc (retuning next day single driver all within 850-900 kms) Delhi-Bangalore (45 hours in Maruti 800 in 1992; shared driving with one more person, 2400 kms); dozens of times Delhi-Simla by car and motobike (returning next day-solo-900 kms); Hisar-Dehradun (400 kms motobike-solo, 9 hrs); Delhi - Jammu ( 620 kms motorbike solo, 14 hrs). Trusted ICE in car with a range of music and lots of supplies to keep me self sufficient. Driving solo or with a passenger is a responsible job. I almost never exceed 120 kmph and give a lot of time to planning every small detail in advance. Reliability of vehicle and safety of every living being is top priority. I do manage small jobs required by the vehicle.

My longest solo drive was a 562 mile drive in 2007 December, Christmas weekend.
I started from my place in NJ, dropped a friend in Rutgers university, Piscataway, then continued to my aunt's home near Philly. Next day, set out from there, and drove around 6 hours (traffic) to my uncle in Connecticut. Next day, drove 45 minutes to another friends place in Massachusetts. Returned to NJ the next day.

Got a brand new Nissan Sentra (less than 100 miles on the odo) as my rental vehicle - and everyone commented that my driving skill was much improved after this tour.

PS: I had only received my license in August 07 and drove weekend rentals before this.

The only solo drives I make are from Palakkad to Kochi (about 180 kms) and back occassionally on official purposes, and most of the time i ensure someone is there at least on one leg of the journey. I feel guilty driving alone in car for such long distances

My longest continuous solo drive was from Bangalore to my home town Kothamangalam in Kerala, around 600 kms. I did it almost non-stop in 8 hours (Started at 4am from Bangalore and reached at 12 noon door to door).

The biggest problem according to me is that i tend to enjoy the freedom of being alone and drive very fast, which at times can become dangerous.
