It need not have been named after anyone. And even if it HAD to, atleast not to gain political mileage.

It could have been any national or local hero. We have a rich history, both pre and post freedom struggle. Why not Mr L. B. Shastri, why not Sardar Patel Uddan Pul. Why not Mahatma Gandhi Setu. Why not Dr. Zakir Hussein (1st President of India). There are so many but these mentally bankrupt politicians only want to show their loyalty and win favors and kursi. Damn it!

Anyway, let's get back to the main conversation. It's getting a little off-topic as this is likely to happen anyway given current sociopolitical scenario.

This would have been the best choice. We have almost forgotten one of our greatest leaders.

I'm gonna have to correct my previous statement. Yes, there are additional lanes coming up. You can actually see the foundations already set in the ocean.

Unfortunately, the traffic situation has not improved but I guess it's early days yet. Lets see how the flow pans out once the 50 buck toll kicks in.

Its the norm in Western and eastern Highway. Shear volume of traffic so high, that if you break lanes then a jam is certain. And you don't want to be the one who is seen to be the cause it can get ugly pretty fast.

That is common for bridges / flyovers till construction is complete. Not sure if this is done for BWSL as well.

In Bombay, traffic is quite uni-directional.

So, out of four lanes only one lane would be for traffic in "reverse" direction.

So in morning traffic towards south would have 3 lanes and northbound traffic would have only 1. Reverse 3:1 in night.

In that one lane, it would look like everyone is going in wrong direction.
Can you point towards specific pic, that would make it easier to see if this was the case or not.

I crossed the sea-link yesterday. Had gone to Hinduja to collect some reports. On my way back to Goregaon (E), I decided to drive up to Worli Sea-face and take the Sea-link. The entry to Sea-link was clogged from the Sea-face end. Took me 10 minutes to get on at 5:45 pm. The drive was very beautiful. The sea was a little rough due to the strong winds. Traffic moved slow (@ 30 kmph). It stopped near the column holding the cables. Marvelous it is! Then again it moved slow. Came to a stand still at the exit. Had to wait for 10 minutes. The Drive onwards to Goregaon (E) was smooth.

Drove on the Sea-link on the very first day it was opened for traffic.
