Whoops Guess i mixed the two sentences. My bad. L'Or Blanc means WHITE GOLD in french btw... Strange car that is though. If I was shopping for a veyron, I world get the SS in CF and ORange.

apologies in advance for an ignorant question, "why is VW losing money on each car (bugatti) they produce? i mean its after all priced exorbidantly, they should have kept a sufficient profit margins in their cost plans. isn't it? or is it to do with the higher input costs and limited number of cars on the production line??

For a company like VW,the Veyron was more of a technological tour de force,showcasing thier abilities as a group.For that they can incur those losses,because it indirectly helps the VW brand.

It isn't about limited number of cars. Its about the the production mechanism and the costs involved in making such a powerful car behave so sedately, be supremely luxurious and go like stink, all at once. There are some cars which can crack 250 MPH, but none that can do it as effortlessly as the Veyron, or in as much luxury. As far as absolute prices are concerned, each Veyron costs the VW group 5 million GBP to build, and they sold it for "just" 1 million. But for a automobile giant like VW, they can afford to it, especially when they are rebuilding one of the most revered brands in the automotive world.

Besides being a tour de force, it was a brand building exercise, to restart the Bugatti brand name.

Apart from what shamik said above, the main cost is the development cost which needs to be loaded on the cars produced. AFAIK Veyron took 5 or 7 years to develop so you can imagine the costs, and all that had to be loaded on just 300 cars.

Near the end, was it V10's SL55 in front of the Veyron? And that looked a lot like a Mulsanne, but I might be wrong.

M3? Where? Did hear them mentioning a Z3 infront of the *SLR* but I didn't see any BMW in the video.

This, from what I could make out, should be an exclusive drive in the W16 for the Cannonballers. The SL55 and Vantage (both known to be CBC cars) seem to be trailing it from two ends and taking it around. Lucky fellas. V10, more on this Pleece!

just a suggestion guys .... when making videos like these please DO NOT try to cut through as the driver did in this video . I know there's a lot of excitement to see a bugatti but just braking so close to that Bentley and trying to squeeze in to get a glimpse can be real dangerous and is kind of annoying.
