Re: BMW M5 Spotted Thread (w/Pics) - E28, E34, E39, E60, F10, F90

Hello Everyone,

This is my first time ever posting on Team BH-P and what a way to start my Journey here.

GTO gave me the honour of completing a dream of mine which was to have a spin in the M5, Personally the Latest generation 5 Series has me in awe even when not in M Spec, which is rare for me.

With the press of a button all 4.4 Litres and 8 Cylinders Roared Awake, and that planted a smile on my face until we were back from a short spin which is enough to keep me happy for the next few days at least. The new M5 only has one word for it, Perfection. With its 4WD, it feels like a bullet which will only go straight when floored. Absolutely Fantastic Car! E60 and F10 you'll are great but this is Something Else!

Thank You GTO!

Attached below are some pictures i clicked and edited after the V8 was shut down.

Interestingly, the HUD (when on) is visible only to the driver. You cannot see it from the front passenger's seat.

Who wants to even look at HUD when doing ghat roads. I recently visited Mount Abu for my trail marathon and had to go solo. That too in my newly pre-owned G30 530d. My first beemer. Put every possible thing in sport mode, the side bolsters tightens and hug you tight in the comfort seats. What a feeling. It was around 1:30 p.m., mostly empty roads, total 20 kms straight up. took the last couple of kms smooth. However, upon reaching hotel, breaks made couple of squeaking sound. May be I took it too hard or may be pads are out. Do i need to worry? Next day it was all ok till i reached back to ahmedabad.

Thanks. Went too much over my budget and had to do lot of finance adjustment, family didnt like my decision to put so much money on a depreciating asset, but you only live once. The pockets will be tight for first year but then things will get better.

Yes the G30 530D has them. They hug you when you put the car into sport mode. Can also be customised to work for regular driving mode.

Well, then it seems BMW India for 2018, 2019 models have eliminated this feature

Engine is M-A-D and the gearbox is quick. Tyres stick like super glue to tarmac and her poise is remarkable, for what is a big + heavy sedan. The steering is nice, but I think it's lost a bit of purity due to the AWD. Isn't as tail-happy as the last-gen M5 or even my humble 530d (AWD again). Left with 1/2 tank of fuel and had to refill on the way back. 3.1 kmpl .
It's really hard to get over such a drive. The more I think about it, the more the M5 impresses me. Most noteworthy was the fact that, despite having 600 BHP on tap, it never felt uncontrollable, butt-heavy (like the 400 BHP Mustang did) or nervous. The AWD definitely contributes big time. The F90 M5 felt solid, composed & sorted at all times. A lot more than even the F10 M5 we drove in 2012.

It is actually a very easy car to drive fast, simply because of how well-mannered it is. No tantrums, no drama. Just really fast performance.

I see that you're very impressed by the M5. Why don't you drive the E63 S now, or have you already? It would be interesting to know what you think of the AMG.

Haha I was going to say the same thing. Driven both, the M5 and the E63 S extensively and no the doubt the M5 is fab, loved every bit of it especially the way I could configure M1 and M2, but the E63 S is a little up on horsepower and boy that 850 Nm of torque is insanity. And well, an AMG soundtrack is an AMG soundtrack no?

Will be driving the M5 Competition soon. That should be quite something.

This absolute sleeper made its way to Mumbai recently. This F10 LCI is loaded and how! Soft close doors, carbon all around and all that stopping power courtesy the carbon ceramic brakes! An absolute monster this one, and quite subtly at that.

Yes but if I'm not mistaken the one you're talking of is the blue F90 which BMW India sold recently, to Mumbai itself.

This particular F10 came to Bombay a couple of months ago or so.
