more interesting Trivia: i opened the glove box in the Rolls and saw a couple of buttons in there. i just pressed one of them and guess what!!!!! the spirit of ecstasy on the bonnet gracefully bowed out and went mechanically into the bonnet....neat!
-one more thing: the blowers on the car were pretty noisy. i adjusted the knobs for the backseat and switching them off would cause a lot of the flow to the front blowers to increase their power drastically and make a big noise in the process!
-also the AUTO power window function is only for rolling the window down...even on the rear windows!!!!!!!!! no auto up function..5 crores!:@?@?@:@ is Rolls missing something????
-the leather was top notch even though it had the stupid mobile store printed on it..
-and there is no display on the back seat or around it for displaying the temperature and speed...like the maybach. nothing to even display the climate control settings!
-the sound system was pretty punchy and uses the logic7 system but i dint get to sample it much.
-the fella driving it said it gives an average of 2-2.5 kmpl..
-it has proximity sensors all around the car..so everytime a cyclist came close it would alert the driver: not recommended for the daily hustle bustle traffic in metros.but i guess it can be turned off.
-the gear lever was mounted on the right of the steering column

@frankmehta :

The Spirit of Ecstacy goes in everytime you lock the car and comes up when you unlock it.

The leather you saw with the Mobile Store logo are infact just seat covers. The actual leather upholstery in that car is light beige.

Did you see the IDrive straight out of a 7 Series and incase you didnt know the Phantom has launch control too.

The rear power windows function is actually a safety device, since the rear door shape is not symmetrical, it was not possible to incorporate finger protection in the windows.. hence the windo doesnt have auto up in rear.. besides the window never gets opened!!

yeah that fellow was showing me the launch control meter in the instrument console where there was a dial saying power reserve and has a marking from 0- 100 %. but for a second i thought he was fibbing because he had just fibbed to another ignorant unsuspecting dentist(one of my colleagues) how the car does 0-100 mph in 4.2s. i dint wanna cut the fella off so i let it be. but i actually wondered, who would have ever thought of wheelspin and other 'meaningless' factors in a smooth wafter like the Rolls.
about the sound system ur absolutely right, i thought i had seen 'Exicon' on one of the speakers, so ur right, 'Lexicon' it is!

hi dippy, im sure i dint see the iDrive controller..maybe if i even did it wasnt placed exactly in the same place as the Bmw's nor did it look the same, i think beemers have them near their transmission sticks.
as for the covers on the seats, thank God for that. the owners wouldnt want to see soiled leather seats with so many ppl sitting inside the car daily!

The Spirit of Ecstacy does that when its on auto if im not wrong, it can manually be adjusted also.

Did anyone notice the wheel cap(left rear side) of the mobile phantom wasnt there on it.
and also the water droplets on the AC vents.

This is India where even a Ferrari is running as a Taxi with yellow board..( there is a thread in TBhp on the subject ) ..So anything is possible..and Yes ..the Owner has the right to use his car anyway he wants..But I think in a forum like T BHP , others have a right to their opinions as well, especially regarding the weird color scheme used ( IMO ). on an otherwise elegant car..e.g. We have a thread on weird modifications .., although it is is the car owner who is paying for the modifications

The reason you didn't see it is because it's placed behind a flap & is not visible normally.

It does, it's standard on the Phantom.

The i-drive controller is near the drivers lhs armrest above the ashtrya... u press it gently and it comes out.. also the screen flips with it.. the wheel cap of this one was stolen.. since the car ismoving around all over u can expect that.. some other phantoms get police escort and all!! and its not launch control.. its called power reserve.. when the car is idling it shows 100% and as the car moves and speeds up the meter drops.. its somewhat an inverted tachometer.

Probably the most expensive car i have seen being used for advertising was pictures of a CLK-GTR (in hongkong?) being used to market some Calvin Klein product if i am not mistaken!...

This was shown on Top Gear. JC was doing 100+ kph and the meter was showing that there is a 90% more usable power. That is the car is using only 10% of its total available power to cruise at 100 kph.

I agree; a horrendous colour combination and what a let down - RR used for selling Mobiles.

That reminds me of a story about Maharaja of Bikaner who on one of his visits to London walked into the RR showroom and wanted to buy one. It is said that the Sales guy shooed the Maharaja away. A humiliated Maharaja went back and then officially ordered for 2 of them for his state that were duly delivered in due course of time.

It is said that he converted one to a garbage truck that used to carry the waste from his palace and other was used to ride his poodles.. The pics were taken and sent to RR and it is ruoured that they came down and profuely apologised to the Maharaja for the insolence of their employee. It was said that the Maharaja didn't relent.

I dunno how many of you have heard about this. But this brings me back to the question on how to use a car. After I have paid for and owned it, I don't think it is anybody's business to tell me as how to and for what purpose the car is to be used even though it could be a RR or a Maybach..
