Yes Adnan, planning for a ride to Mangalore, before monsoon wreaks havoc on the Shiradi Ghat. Else we ought to wait for one more year.
Had done it earlier way back in 90's on my RD and that road beckons me.

Jay,
Let's catch up this weekend and then take it from there.

I believe Mangalore has an active superbiking scene. Do plan to catch up with Adnan and the folks.

Congrats Jayant, glad to know that the bike is up and running.

OT: I did not get a chance to ride with Santhosh to handover your allen key tool kit. Hope to meet one of you soon. I will bring it to your place if you need it now.

Thanks Shamil. Let's plan a small ride soon. It'll be easy that way.

I did mention before that I bought the parts myself during my recent trip to Europe. I'm working with the insurance company on the damages. Will update on that as it materializes.

+1. The best time to do a ride to Mlore is now. I drove down to Bekal two weeks back and the Shiradi ghats are as good as new. No nightmares, no potholes, nothing. Loved the twisties.

Craving to ride the ninja on this stretch. But of course, some turns are tricky as the road dips suddenly and takes a sharp turn.

Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

The claim is now being settled at apprx 60% of the total damages incurred. The reason given to me is that 80% of them were plastic parts and unfortunately only 50% is applicable for those kind :-(

I'm being advised to go for Zero depreciation scheme this year. In this scheme, the 50% plastic thingy is not applicable?

Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

ICICI Lombard is quoting 17.5K for zero depreciation and 11.8K for non zero depreciation for my 2011 Monster 796. Is this a resonable quote? They were my first year's insurers. Shoud I stick with them? TIA!

P.S - Are plastic parts covered at 100% under non zero depreciation?

Jayant, as per reviews i have read, ICICI Lombard is best avoided.

When it comes to claims they will make you run from pillar to post and make your life hell.

Last year, i did a bit of research when i had to renew the insurance for my ninja. ICICI quoted lowest amongst the rest of the providers (handful of providers since all of them don't insure the ninja as its considered a high risk vehicle) considering if i moved from Oriental. But upon renewal their premiums are supposedly very high. They want to attract new customers but on renewal it is reported that customers prefer other providers, maybe due to higher renewal premiums and/or unpleasant experiences during the claim process.

Suggest you to take their renewal notice (which has all the IDV, NCB details) and approach oriental insurance or hdfc ergo.

You might want to check this link too.

Zero Dep will have a mandatory deductible which is 1% of the claim amount or 0.5% of the IDV whichever is lower subject to a minimum of or Rs. 250 () payable by the insured party.

Link.

Do the math and it's totally worth it.

However T&C's say the zero dep cover is limited to an amount upto 1L only. Above this amount there are some conditions which are listed in the AML site (Anti Money Laundering, which i couldn't find) or max of 90% of IDV is paid out in case of total loss.

Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

Thanks a ton Adi! Quite a bit of useful info.

My Ducati buddies are suggesting Oriental and Iffco. Let me check with them and update here. The amount quoted by ICICI is way off compared to the others for sure.
