re: The Kawasaki Vulcan S - Now launched at 5.44 lakhs

Any expert option about ground clearance on this Vucan S - 130mm.
Will it be ok on Indian roads & high (unscientific) speed breakers?

When I am riding by suzuki gixxer with pillion, the bike scraps on high speed breakers. gixxer has 145mm gc.

Good specs and pricing for the Indian version then. After all the bashing they received for the launch pricing of the Versys X300, Kawasaki has again hit the sweet spot with the Vulcan S.

I would still rate Versys as their best 650 for combining the best of both cruising and sports worlds, but for those who find it too intimidating - Vulcan 650 offers a good choice at a lower price.

My Z900 has 130mm clearance - and it scrapes quite a bit even without pillion on speed humps.

According to IAB, Vulcan has arrived at the dealerships prior to the launch.

Bangalore launch happened last Saturday.

Here's a quick first look video from a popular Motovlogger.

Re: The Kawasaki Vulcan S - Now launched at 5.44 lakhs

It isn't for "everyone" Kawasaki seems to say @ http://www.kawasaki-india.com/inventory/vulcan/

"STYLISH, URBAN MOTORCYCLE FOR NEW RIDERS, FEMALE RIDERS"

I wonder why would they narrow down their market esp. when there's nothing known for India yet about bigger Vulcans for "experienced riders and male riders"

shot in the foot?

Strange. An experienced rider wouldn't want to be seen riding one then.

Jokes apart - I guess they are hinting at the seat ride height. You sit way lower than an Activa. Infact, 20mm lower seat height than even the Bajaj Avenger which is one of the common options for ladies who are into motorcycling.

Coming from the Versys 650 with its intimidating 840mm seat height - I find it amusing that they were able to get a seat height of just 705mm in a platform shared offering.

Re: The Kawasaki Vulcan S - Now launched at 5.44 lakhs

130 mm gc for the vulcan vs 170 mm gc for the versys 650. That is the easy answer to your question.

Though i will never complain if the seat height was a more manageable 800 mm and gc retained at 170 mm.

Re: The Kawasaki Vulcan S - Now launched at 5.44 lakhs

I feel they have done a nice job with this bike. That motor is quite versatile because its a practical meld of usable power, torque and reliability. And from the V650 threads, looks like Kawasaki maintainance costs have reduced off late. Whether this one will sell is yet to be seen. I hope it does. Will take a TD to figure out how comfortable it actually is. This can also make a neat second bike for owners of more aggressive suberbikes.

Cheers.

Re: The Kawasaki Vulcan S - Now launched at 5.44 lakhs

Has anyone booked this and got it delivered. I'm probably going to for this in the end, but the showroom guys said that expected delivery is 2nd week of March. Is this realistic?

Also, noob question (I'm a first time "expensive" bike purchaser), but is there any scope of negotiations on the final price? Or any benefits/accessories that can be squeezed in?

Not much of a chance with Kawasaki unless the bike is not selling well - even then discounts are rare or less compared to brands like Triumph. However - most of their models are priced well in the first place.

FYI - There are good deals running on Street 750. 40k something off. Probably to counter direct competition from Vulcan.

Hey man,

Yeah, there are discounts on the 750s but as I said in the other thread where we were discussing about the UM bikes, HD heating is a major letdown. Had a fairly long test ride on the vulcan this weekend, was thoroughly impressed. The first time, it was in their showroom compound and had not like the seating position at all. The longer test ride changed that opinion.

Now waiting for home ministry for approval after she takes a test ride this weekend before we put in the moolah

What was your take on the ground clearance? 130mm seems to be too low.
