Guys I enquired in Kawasaki Coimbatore as well and the OTR price for new Ninja 650 is 7,80,000 Rs. But they are saying this is inclusive of the mandatory LS2 Helmet + Alpinestars riding jacket and Gloves too. Did government make this compulsory too ?

The Z900 is 9,78,857 Rs OTR.

Prices are too high now and I don't think it's VFM anymore. The Z900 is 10,50,000 Rs OTR.

I think they are just trying to upsell, there is no such directive from the government. You can tell them that you already have an helmet, and you don't need the jacket and gloves.

Yes the bike price has really gone off the roof, i remember it used to cost 6.66 couple of years back, now i think it is close to 8 lacs in bangalore. Pre owned is the way to go with SBK.

Safety gears, ceramic coating and RSA is just up selling, also why 5 years insurance, seems dealer is just trying to pull a quick one here.

I would even suggest to wait and get some more funds and go for Z900. For some one who upgraded from RR to Ninja 650, I think it's a very linear upgrade and will keep you happy for sometime, before upgrade itch bites you again.

Regarding extras dealer is asking for you can outright deny and tell them you will write to kawasaki about it if not removed. That is almost 41K

First off, as AtheK rightly pointed out, there is no such directive from the government.

Secondly, how come the "ceramic coating" on the Z900 costs more than the Ninja 650? Considering the side panels on the Ninja, there is a lot more "ceramic coating" work to be done on the Ninja 650 than the Z900

Thirdly, and most importantly, this "mandatory" riding gear nonsense speaks volumes for the integrity, or lack of it, of the dealership in question. I really wish Kawasaki starts clamping down on these shady deals that it's dealers try to pull. Kawasaki makes excellent bikes and price most of them very well. It is the sales experience that is the weak link for Kawasaki in India.

For that 6 - 12 L budget, you can get a lot of great bikes on the preowned market. Between the three you have shortlisted, I would say avoid the Ducati Supersport and instead add to your list, the bike it was supposed to slay - Ninja 1000. Also do seriously think about the Speed Triple, there are some fabulous deals going on them these days in the prowned market (as an indication, they are going for below the price of a new 2020 Ninja 650, which makes the Ninja 650 seem terrible VFM). I believe there was a black Speed Triple listed on OLX a short while ago in Madras.

Pick the one that pulls your heart strings the strongest!

Why are you considering a CBR650F when you already moved on earlier ? Also I noticed you specifically mentioned the F while the R is more recent. Curious.

Lol. You are absolutely right about the ceramic coating part. I didn't even notice that. Maybe they started charging on how expensive the bike is rather than how much bike has to be covered.

Yes this dealer is pretty unethical. Infact on of our own team-Bhp member has purchased a Z900 from this dealer and was forced to purchased the insurance directly from dealer only, despite him getting better offers from outside. The said owner did not complain to Kawasaki as he liked the bike a lot and just followed the dealers instruction.

I would definitely not do the same. If I finalize on Kawasaki first thing would be me shooting a mail to Kawasaki India and if that doesn't work out we always have a Hondaa. !

I really liked Ninja 1000 for its unintimidating power, rideability and its awesome price. But the bike is too big to my liking. Though i'm big and heavy, prefer my bike to be sleek and flickable. That's where the Ducati shines. It's one of the beautiful bikes that an amateur can buy and still use it. But, having my doubts on it as it is a Ducati, hence the confusion.

Speed Triple is a good option, but none is available. That ad in OLX was long gone. Let me see if I can find one.

Don't know what Kawasaki guys were thinking when pricing the 650. Maybe they wanted to be away from the RE twins or get closer to the CBR650.

Would prefer a R over F. But none are available in the used market and the new ones are not available for another 6 months as per the local Honda guys and this was in March, before the lockdown. Dont think I can get a new CBR650 before end of this year.

I dont know what are your confusions regarding a Ducati - its a beautiful bike ! Plus the dealer in Chennai also is VST - and they have a stellar reputation for after sales which i can personally attest to. If you like the bike - go ahead and buy it. Dont listen to naysayers - as i said in the other thread - only non-Ducati owners seem to have issues with a Ducati

This says everything - look no further than the Triumph Street Triple S / RS. Within your budget, you will get a low run RS easily. There was one bike up for sale in Coimbatore a few weeks ago, it is no longer listed now though.

While power to weight is not the only criteria, given what you have listed is important to you, I think the numbers below speak for itself. Those additional 17 kgs will make a big difference in the real world.

Yeah, seems like it is no longer listed. While scrolling through the details, I remember thinking that it appeared to be a good bike. I think he had mentioned it was one of 6 bikes in Madras.

Both bikes will have a different character - STriple has a better top end while Ducati has a higher and much better lower end torque. Ultimately depends on what you like in a bike.

Besides the Triumph Service Scene is legendary as demonstrated in a few threads by owners in the forum.

The Kawasaki dealer in Bengaluru claims to have sold all his BS6 stock of the Ninja 650's. Not sure how much stock he had. The sales thread should be one to look out for.
