It costs around 23.5 lakhs ex-showroom Mumbai which will make it around 25-26 lakhs OTR.

Seriously, he can't even reach the ground except for his tiptoes! I'm inclined to ask, what if someone short is the pillion? Won't the silencer(s) burn their legs? Or is this made specifically for a long leggy lass at the back?

May be the veterans might be able to shed more light on this.
With the fully loaded R1200GS priced at about $ 17,000 in US and retailing in India at about 21+ lac OTR (bangalore), the GTL that sells for $25,000+ in US should be retailing at about Rs 31 lacs OTR.

I am confident the GTL would be a top contender for the next International Bike of Year.

31 Lacs in India for a bike that costs approximately 25K in the US.

That's a huge difference, almost double. I can understand a 40-50% difference, however this kind of difference is simply ridiculous.

It's high time we get the biggies at better cost difference if not at par. For how long will be deprived of the riding pleasures of these spectacular machines. And again, HD is doing the right thing here by great pricing and introducing us to the right products.

How I wish Beemers do the same.

Mantrig,
Not trying to prove a point here, HD is also charging BIG time.
For Ex: HD Iron 883 costs 7999$. Courtesy their US Website Sportster Iron 883 XL883N | Custom Motor Bikes | Harley-Davidson USA

In India it costs 650,000 INR. So in reality lets do a quick conversion using xe.com. 7,999.00 USD = 351,918.02 INR (1 USD = 43.9953 INR)

Would leave you to arrive/make conclusions

Thats because these bikes are brought down by Deutsche Motoren and not BMW directly. The idea is to drive home the message that its a Premium bike.

I don't even think this is something we can debate on and I completely agree with you on pricing front.

But at least we can get the right products. Some of the Harleys, now the N650 and yes, the 250s (Ninja & Honda) are the right products.

@ Aditya : But this big a price to drive home the message is not justified. :(

We need some more of these mid segments to help graduate the market to the next level gradually.

Agree with you Mantrig on the right product HD has, honestly feel at this point in time we still lack good models which provide you a step up/progression from 240 to 400/500 to 800 to liter/above liter class.

Regarding the pricing, as a private importer they cannot make any claims to save costs like having an assembly point which will help them save taxes. So ideally speaking you ought to pay for the bike, customs & the seller's margin as well

How does 3-4 lakhs for a 750cc V twin sound?

Stay tuned to HD India for some news about such a possibility.

Cheers

Ride Safe.
