Congrats Sawyer, nice to see a new Gypsy. Since it sells so much (300+ in August), they feel no need to spruce it up for 21st century.

Congrats on Getting the Gypsy Sawyer

I am really surprised & amused to see the Maruti monogram on front, the last I saw one was on an Omni (Before it was called an Omni)

Thanks a lot, folks, and I will keep in mind the various sentiments expressed! The car has gone back to Carax in Pune who is one of the better shops I have come across of this type, for getting the steering wheel issue addressed. It needs to be of a thicker cross section to aid the turning effort, so what is being done is leather stitching around it on a permanent basis, so it doesn't start sliding around after some use. Also to be addressed is the mirror addition on both sides.
One question - and I did not look out to see this before they added the Hellas. Both the lights, the headlights that now have 100/90 halogens in them, and the 100w Hellas have their own relay per pair, but I see that both run direct from the battery all the time. Is that all right? I am not sure that the original 60/55 headlamps were wired the way they now seem to be.
The grille by the front windscreen has been shut via a liberal application of wide 3M clear cellotape - the first time I have used something like this on a brand new car! But it looks like it will do the job, and for the Gypsy that is all that matters.
@Ankit - yes, the tyres are the Geolandars in 205 section. The car would have looked a lot more purposeful with the 215s, I am sure, but I am pretty sure that over time, I will be quite happy with the lesser effort required for the 205s, and I think that functionally, they will serve just as well. Based on what learning I acquired from the various posts here, and all I want from this car is function.

Sawyer Congrats for getting a New GYPSY.
Few things I would suggest do not change the bulb to higher watt it will crack your reflector and new one is 2350 INR.
Check the bolt and nuts specially battery clip if its loose acid will flow out and damage your paint.

Sha, too late on the bulb change! The OEs are 60/55 and will increasing their power to 100/90 as has already been done, have such a big effect? I am sure that the Hellas are designed to take the 100w. I can always revert to the OEs for the headlamps if necessary.

Sawyer, why do you need to cover the grill with cellotape?

@GTW - This is the grille back on the bonnet by the windscreen, I believe it lets rainwater in, and other sundry rubbish as well. I read this here, and also the recommendation to close it up on day 1 to address this.

@GTW - if you open the bonnet, you will see that it is sealed off from the engine bay. It is meant to draw air into the passenger compartment, but unfortunately it does not do only that.

Mine is already damaged withing few months after changing to higher watt bulb, Tried fitting old omni lights but it does not fit.
I know higher watt gives good effect but will damaged reflectors.
