2013 Team-BHP Bangalore Overnight Meet

Hello BHPians, hope you all are doing well, its been a long time we went for a mega meet, last one being in Chikmagalur in Feb,2012. Time to reorganize and hit the road, there have been few min meets but nothing like an overnight one...

Planning for a weekend overnight trip in January, 14th being a holiday, we can grab this opportunity for a 2.5 day trip if not a 3 day one, requesting all to suggest places and options, I will also come up with few options in couple of days...

Happy driving

re: 2013 Team-BHP Bangalore Overnight Meet

Here are some of the places we may consider -
  • Kudremukh (Western Ghat + National Park)
  • Sakleshpur (Western Ghat)
  • Murudeshwar (Beach)
  • Udupi (Beach)
  • Ooty(Madumalai + 36 hair pins)
  • Hampi (Historical)
Most of these places might be very common, but we can always find something uncommon out of them.

Suggestions please....

I am in for a place within 5 hours of travel time with 1 night stay.

Sakleshpur (Sinna Dorai bungalow or tusk and dawn)
Yercaud (grange resorts)
Masinagudi (inn the wild)

Folks,
Kluney Manor in Ooty is a good option might be a tad pricey at 2200 per day, but they have some good English Type Cottages..

1. How about Valaparai - Early Morning you leave Bangalore and reach Valparai by noon and then enjoy the rest of the day and the next day. 3rd day start at leisure and reach back home.

2. @Asdon. How about the Beach resort which was planned last time near Ankola?

Thanks Shishir for letting us know about this thread.

Valparai looks like a very good plan, atleast by the info I saw here: Tourist_attractions_in_valparai

Thanks for the initiative asdon .

My two cents:
Ooty and Hampi might be too crowded as these could be the first things people's mind when they want to plan for a long weekend, (I could be wrong though).
That being said "Madumalai + 36 hair pins" tempt me a lot

I've heard a lot of good things about Kudermukh and Sakleshpur.

My order of preference would be
1. Valparai
2. Kudermukh
3. Ooty
4. Sakleshpur

Guys,

Many of these places might not have rooms in large numbers.
You need to work that out in tandem with the numbers that roll in to drive.

Do keep that aspect in consideration.

This sounds very interesting. The timing seems a little tight.

I shall be keeping an eye here and my fingers crossed

Would vote for the Beach plan, which was abandoned last time.

I think that beach(Near Ankola) plan was sowed in our mind when we did the Chikamagalore trip.

AFAIK, Ooty and other places would be full by now. I guess Valparai and that Beach pan would fit in well. Just my thought. Let others also give the idea.

I also feel the beach plan was long due, why don't you help us, as now I know one secret about you

Here is a tentative list of participants -

Asdon
RK_Sans
Shishir_bn
S Choudhury
KU69rd
Mannu Bhai
TCKant
Mustysekhon

Edit: Please consider Dandeli as one of the options

Re: 2013 Team-BHP Bangalore Overnight Meet

14th might be difficult for me and in fact for many others, since it happens to be a major festival. Let me see if I can manage to squeeze in somehow. I'll add myself to the tentative list for now anyway:

Asdon
RK_Sans
Shishir_bn
S Choudhury
KU69rd
Mannu Bhai
TCKant
Mustysekhon
KarthikK

I'm not sure if Valparai has any resort big enough for a mega-meet. Need to check this

Re: 2013 Team-BHP Bangalore Overnight Meet

Count me in. Valapari should have a pretty good facility to hold upto 20 ppl. My wife's company recently had a team trip there. Will try to fetch some more info from her and post here in couple of days.
