The biggest issue I see in a large scale meet which involves a lot of driving to the meeting point is it will become scattered. Some will reach early, some late and some will reach just as the early birds are leaving.

If you see the maps, the best options to minimize both distance and time for both Mumbai and Pune groups lie along the NH4.

If willing to drive farther and longer, on one hand is the Goa highway and the other is the Nashik highway. These would typically be a 5+ hours of driving both ways, assuming an early start and so no traffic on one of the legs. Here the best options would be Bhandardara or Ghatghar dams or the beaches near Alibaug (more driving).

The third option is to pick a place closer to one of the cities: Mahabaleshwar, for e.g. which will be closer to Pune team but farther for Mumbai guys. Could be the other way round if we picked something near Mumbai.

1) Lonavala - Tried and tested, like we did last year, breakfast at Pawna Lake and Lunch at Sunny Dhaba.

2) Bhandardara - longest drive for all, but fun filled, breakfast at Dalvi Darbaar and Lunch at MTDC Resort at Bhandardara or Manas Resort.

3) Wai - something that most of us wanted to do, breakfast can be at Joshi Wadewale and Lunch at Wai.

4) Murud Janjira - this is what I prefer and would be central for all, breakfast at Panvel and Lunch at Patil Khanaval.

As for the Lonavla chikki, you should find ample time post lunch to drive into Lonavla town.

If you guys take the same route as the last time, you will enter Lonavla, but turn off the main road much before the city centre. After reaching the breakfast place, you will drive on, instead of returning back, and emerge onto the NH4 farther ahead than the town. Taking left to head towards Mumbai, you will stop for lunch at Sunny da. Post lunch you can just drive along the old NH4 into Lonavla.
