Good Video! I just made the Santinicotine trip in 1 sec less than 10 minutes.

But did I see a "chhagol" types motivating "kalimoti" to take an evasive manouvre!

The smile on Razors face (on doing the swift from the left) takes the cake!

Next drive, whenever that happens, can we have a 150-0 braking test (time/distance etc) on all the cars with their respective drivers.

Missed a potential "kochi pa(n)tha'r jhhol", (although I cannot make out the kochi-ness of the pa(n)tha).

When in Nigeria, our driver once hit a mongoose, he simply stopped the car, went back to the dead carcass, prayed for his RIP-wip, lifted the body placed it near my feet, eeeks, and smiled and told my Mom...
"Banquet Madam!" (pronounced as ma-the-am)

Heres the link to the only video that wifey managed to take during the trip. its about a black baleno cruising at 175 ish (speedo) on the GQ in 5th gear at around 5000 rpm

by the way, saw these 4 beauties while coming back from Durgapur. They were coming to Kolkata all the way from Delhi -

Sorry about having lost your Tiki to the air.

However I have a phantastic ability to detest elephants. What a poky eccentric design. Look at the way the dude is looking at the camera?

. ok leave the elephants, heres some news you will like. had the unusual oppurunity of racing with two Mercs while coming back from Durgapur. One a black 200 and another silver 220 cdi. was very pleased to see the cars being driven like they should be. and both were almost new. BTW, do you know the top speeds of these cars?

The 200 will depend on whether is was a C or E (But in either case it will not be a car you would feel proud taking on, they are supercharged 1.8s). The 220CDI my estimated guess would be 210-220 or thereabouts.

the 200 was a C. did you see the video of the Baleno, I myself was pretty surprised to see the rpm was only 5000. dont know what the speed would be at 6500 and above... will have to test it some day

why not?? they cost 5 times than the baleno but what you are saying is quite true. wifey was telling me that some day we should get one merc as it looked so classy and all that but immedietly dropped the idea after seeing their performance with respect to the Baleno . and it was not the case that they were not trying. but I liked the pulling power of the cdi.

The pedigree though is different. Will agree "classy". Mercedes is not tagging their nomenclature right. Like C200 is a 1.8. A friends C230 Sport Sedan is a Supercharged 2.5. Its very fuzzy now.

When you get behind the wheel of any of these cars, Merc BMW or Audi if you take it to the same speeds you do on your Baleno, you'll see the difference. The entire confidence/feel will be different.

But in anycase the 1.8 Kompressor will go to higher top speeds than those of the Baleno if driven right. Lot of people intend to drive fast, have the right equipment, but end up being embarrassed.

Speaking about the 230 sport sedan. Test drove it, and its a mini beast (even if it does not measure upto the C55).

Just a simple thing, dont judge by cost to kmph ratio.

Sorry i missed this. Thats the beauty of long gearing. However, with increasing speed the resistances (air, mechanical and frictional) increase exponentially, so at a certain rpm the engine torque multiplied by the reduction factor of the overdriven gear would just be sufficient to overcome these resistances. You will not be able to go beyond that rpm on 5th. So its just a matter of finding out the maximum speed.

However 6500 rpm could theoritically take you to 227 kmph.

@ BP - nice video but why were you giggling? and why did you keep the window partly rolled down? i think the wind getting inside the car acts as resistance?? anyways the "kalimoti" is a hottie - a very nice piece of art - the same goes to "rupali tir" as well.

no - i didnt take the video of the video - it just happned in a flash - i never thought wim will take the truck from the left - me and razor were like "oh sh*t! what the h3ll is he doing?"

@ Anirban - Razor was very much impressed (same goes with me) by the way the santro behaved *touch wood*.
