I think 500 bucks for a single meal is upward. If were going to have a budget of 500 plus then it should at least be on a long drive and/or an overnighter. Else general meeting and talking can be done even in a not so expensive place

There is a place called Shelters Resorts in Vadanemmeli. Though i have never been there, I have been to the Shelters hotel in Mylapore several times and the bills worked out "economical", considering we didnt go there to eat

@Gansan- please dont take it personal, but I for once am not for a meet where I have to be out at 8 AM- can't because I will be in office until 2 or 3 AM, and am not an early riser even otherwise. I would prefer just driving for at least 50 KM or so in good rodes, and coming back!

To Shelters : Ive been there numerous times, they have a piece of private beach+decent food+a miniature pool. Good place,but not much of a drive though.

How much does it cost? I was thinking about a drive till the Toll on the Pondi side, U-turn and back here for lunch or something

No,nothing personal. I am all for a meet with a longish drive myself, but can make it only once in a blue moon. My circumstances as well as my budget will preclude me. This time my budget was exhausted by the drive to Shripuram, so there was no way I could make it to Pondy. And an over nighter will complicate things further. But the urge to attend my first meet and break the ice with fellow bhpians prevailed, hence the Vasantha Bhavan meet. I think everyone except Nitrous and bblost were first timers.

Believe me, there are guys who can make it only to city meets, or slightly out of city meets at best. If such meets don't find a place in the scheme of things, we will be permanently barring some bhpians from attending meets. A schism may develop in Chennai TBHP, and one group will never get to meet the other!

How about Bessie beach during the day for in-city meets? Though the sun's gonna be killing, there is going to be a lot of parking space and a decent piece of road for a quick spin... and a nearby Murugan Idli Kadai too
