My take on the trip now
Started off at around 08:20 AM in the morning. Being new to Bangalore and my first TeamBHP meet, we were not sure about how many would turn up or if we would reach late and find everyone gone.
Thankfully, we stay on Banerghatta road and the meeting point was only around 20 minutes away.
We were the third to reach the spot and and were soon joined by PhrozenFire and then we begin our trip. We stopped for breakfast at some place (I am still learning the place), where another Elantra came in and then I was slowly beginning to fall in love with yet another Hyundai (My fav are the Accent, the i20, Sonata Transform and now this)
brraj and barcode stayed in the lead guiding us through out. Oh..did i forget to mention.. a few hundred meters away..where we had to strain our eyes and think, is that an Elantra. Yes. That is the correct way.
Anyway, after taking lunch from Mandya, we continued in till we took a diversion onto a narrower but still good road. After asking the locals for a few directions, we came to the point where we had to go a bit uphill. The roads were still fine here. Once we reached the top, the view was simply breathtaking and we all had our Miss World gasps for a few seconds.
Then we began our photo shoots. I guess it went on for an hour and we got some awesome pics.
Post the photo shoot, we headed off to the beach. Now here the fun started. It was an almost u-turn from the road and then up a very steep hill which had rocks for the road. We waited below (we still did not know what lay ahead till now), so we could guide PhrozenFire. lest they miss the turn. Then we went up and saw the rocky road and HappyWheels standing there waiting for us.
Me, being too finicky about even a single small scratch on my ride, was a bit skeptical at approaching it first, lest I damage my bumper. I was almost certain I was going to lose my bumper, despite its 172mm GC. Now this is where McDonalds decided to deliver a not so happy meal to me with Fries. With excess clutching and high revving to get up, I almost burned my clutch
. We somehow managed to reach the top and when I open the hood of the car, out came a lot of smoke.
I guess it was here than Phrozenfire also decide to smooch the road with his Punto and take back love bites.
Went down for lunch after parking the cars, and distantly hoping I would not see a ball of smoke emanating from where we left our cars (well it was natural to be scared after seeing so much smoke). So after lunch we decided to rest and then we pushed off again.
brraj and barcode, told us they would meet us down the hill. We followed HappyWheels in his Safari and went quite some distance till we realized he took us down the wrong road. We got a call from Barcode asking us to come back.
So, united again, we all went to some other place up another hill to realize it was close (brraj already mentioned the name; as I said earlier, pardon me for the names, as they are all new to me). Took a few quick pics.
Also, I did not mention earlier, it was quite a sight for all the locals, who were quite entertained to see five cars moving along quite rapidly in line together. We had kisds standing and waiving at us, mothers gawking, shop keepers and other groups staring and even the animals seemed to be looking at us at a few points)
So after visiting several other points, Barcode was still eager to visit another spot, however, most of us got real tired and decided to move on. So, on we continued and after almost half hour we were again joined by Barcode.
We briefly got lost at one particular town at some mad signals and crowded roads, however we soon reunited. Now, the smell of a burnt clutch was coming up again and was filling the cabin. After a quick re-inspection, we decided to move on till Maddur CCD. The rest left ahead with me driving a little slowly and Happy Wheels following.
After reaching CCD, I quickly took the car to a mechanic for a check up. By this time, the clutch had cooled down and the smell stopped, The mech also confirmed that all was fine and it was just overheating.
So back to CCD, and by the Happywheels and Phrozen Fire had already left. We quicky bid adieu to the Elantra boys, who were of extreme help and cannot thank them for their concern and help.
So off they went and off we set back to Bangalore with a few stops in between to get my daughter some snacks to eat along the way.
Thanks to Happywheels as well for staying behind
