Even though the link above shows Lonavala-Pune via the E-way, taking the old Mumbai-Pune road is better for a leisurely drive.

I too have done Lavasa so many times that it's boring for a leisurely drive sort of thing BUT I can't think of any other road nearby which is black top without potholes and has some lovely corners. Perfect if having some fun is the only idea.
Haven't done corner carving there in a while now, that's why the itch

Like I said.. I'm in for any drive plan. And agreed.. Lavasa road is pretty good. I wish we lived closer to Chorla ghat :-)

Road condition from Paud to Hadshi turnoff at least is quite bad. I am not sure of the condition further up towards Tikona/ Lonavla. Unless you are ok for a bumpy ride, this route does not make sense.

Also the route upto Paud is without a divider and traffic is a bit crazy at times. regardless of the toll paid at Chandni chowk (which I am not sure is still being charged or not)

I basically wanted a road which hasn't been done to death - and NH4 on busy days is boring as hell, unless you like zipping in and out of traffic at speed.


As for the toll? I think they are charging it - if you stop and pay, that is..most people just go through (as have I the last few times I went through there)

Anyways if road surface "has" to be good for this drive, I guess old NH4 (Mumbai) , (perhaps till Khopoli)- could be another road we can explore (there is nothing left to explore to be honest!)

Summer is usually hibernation time
Plus not all of us get approvals at home for gallivanting across unsafe roads
